Fashion Digest: No More Rip-Offs; Pixie Hermione; Dolce and Gabbana for Beach Soccer

Another week come and went away, here's another digest for you. I know I haven't post my couture views yet and S/S 2011 is coming in 3 weeks or so. Apologies for that but here's something to pacify you at the moment. Am working on couture and will post soon if possible.

No More Rip-Offs
There had been much debate of intellectual property since a few years ago, from music, art to fashion. Now New York Senator Charles E. Schumer introduced a bill named, "Innovative Design Protection and Piracy Prevention Act." to the US Senate. This provides limited protection to authentic designs and prevent knock-offs.

For famous brands, this might not be much of a problem like the monograms from LV, Gucci or Burberry. They have the money and their patterns are internationally recognized and patented. But for most designers, where their collections may be original and still get knocked off by fast fashion retailers. So this law would protect their design for three years as soon as production starts, so brands like Zara wouldn't be able to knock off Proenza Schouler's PS1 bag or Allen Schwartz would might knock off Vera Wang's dress for Chelsea Clinton.

Here's one example of knock offs:

Pixie Hermione
The world is buzzing about the new look of our beloved Hermione. Well Emma Watson. She is known for her role as Harry Potter's trio Hermione Granger, hence the image of long wavy brunette curls is at mind. But now Emma went pixie like Mia Farrow and Twiggy.

The entertainment gossips blows the horn of rebellious age and the star spiral like her fellow teen stars, LiLo, Cyrus and Britney. But rest assured none of these tragedy would befall Emma, in my opinion. Personally I think it's just a hair cut, a change of style after god knows how long of the same hair-cut, mainly for the Hermione image.

Now since the movie is at its end, why not a new hair cut to go ways from the typical Hermione face? I see Emma as the Ivy League actress like Bosworth or Julia rather than the diva dive and die route of Lilo, Britney or Cyrus.

She has a bright future ahead and who knows, the next Gywneth, Julia, Bosworth or Meryl?

Dolce and Gabbana for Beach Soccer
Well, it's safe to say that Domenico and Stefano would be the stars in sports, particularly beach soccer or just soccer. First landing a design contract with Chelsea and now Milan Beach Soccer. They definitely have a hand in sportswear designs. Take a look at these sketches below and these designs from my previous post.
The first is the uniform for beach soccer, simple brief and a beach towel. A coming to play outfit next with two versions, a hot day with sleeveless and if not, take the deep V neck with shorts.
If it gets wet in a rainy day, pop into the jumper hoodie and get back in the game.
Lastlook is for the time when you finish the game and wants to party out or maybe a simple dinner with your mates.
And all of those is in Dolce and Gabbana, 'bien sûr!'

Well, that's the little things I could share with you now and stay tune for more.
Ciao!

Fashion Digest: Grey is Young?; Vera Rings Two Bells; Chelsea's Gabbana?

Another digest to go. I know, I said I'm gonna do couture and noetic science but sharing new updates in the fashion world seemed more important for now. So let's hear about this before I really go for the couture and noetic - promise!

Grey is Young?
So, after a few editorials and covers I can predict the new fashion movement. Grey hair. Yup, I officially says that GREY is the new black, well, is the new chic thing. Oh, you get what I mean. First we have Kristen McMenamy in a few covers from Dazed & Confused and Vogue Italia. Then I see her in American Vogue's Age Issue feautred in the story, "The Age of Consent". All of it with grey hair, mostly.

And then today I saw Gaga in Vanity Fair going for the Grey Movement. I have to say grey is definitely in now. I won't be surprised if more covers or the coming S/S collections features grey hair and makeup as a theme. So watch out for that. What do you think? Going grey?

Note: Grey and Gray is the same. Brit and US spelling. In case you don't know.

Vera Rings Two Bells
The oh-so-fabulous and world renowned wedding designer Vera Wang the bells for two famous couples for the week. First was for Chelsea Clinton, proud daughter of Bill and Hilary Clinton. Chelsea walked down the aisle with Vera's gorgeous strapless ivory with multi layered organza gown and later changed to another Vera tulle Grecian inspired gown. The groom, Marc Mezvinsky wore Christopher Bailey's coat with the Jew traditional cap (Kippah) and scarf.

Not long after that, news popped with Alicia Keys in another Vera gown - Grecian inspired white, single strapped goddess gown. Another job well done! Personally I liked the strapless ivory that Clinton wore down the aisle more.

Chelsea's Gabbana
After all the rumors going around, it is confirmed that Dolce and Gabbana had signed a 3 year contract with Chelsea FC to design the club's suits for not only players but the management team. I have to say, it is just fabulous! Dolce and Gabbana never cease to amaze me with their impeccable skills in suit. I can't wait to see the end result of the suits. But for now, let's indulge in the sketches. Becoming the management/player of the team sure have its perks.

The Best Of Fall Campaigns 2010

Just a short post with a lot of photo shoots and side commentaries.  This years Fall?Winter campaigns shows a lot of promise. There's Hermes, Donna Karan, Prada, and more. Featuring in some of these ads are Karen, Natalia, Karlie - just to name a few of the supermodels. A truly fantastic season.

This season, Steven Meisel raked the most shoots as far as I know. Dior, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Lanvin was all by him. Mert and Marcus did well too with CK Jeans and Dsquared.

Without babbling for too long, lets get on to it. First off we have:
Note: For some of the shoots, it's smaller, so click on it to have a better view

Dsquared never cease to amaze me. With a Spring/Summer that was so hot, they came with a new definition of hotness.

S/S shows couture-ish campaign in the wilds and now with glass exhibition boxes?
Truly a breathtaking one by Mert and Marcus.

Hermes did a marvellous job this season too.
To me, it seemed like a Zorro-ish take on Rapunzel to me.
Showcasing the all famous line of scarves in an unconventional way by Paolo Roversi.
Oh Rapunzel, Rapunzel, please put down your scarf?

Then we have Chloe's with Raquel Zimmermann by Inez and Vinoodh.
Though there's a side mirror of a car dominating the photo, Raquel never cease to shine with the fabulous camel outfits.

Now we have Dolce and Gabbana's menswear by Steven Klein.
It seems to go back in time to the old France or in their case Sicily.
A good black and white which signifies Dolce and Gabbana's classic sense.
Just like their womenswear show in F/W. A reminiscence to the beginning.

The two that Karlie Kloss landed now gives a sense of empowerment for women.
Dior snapped by Meisel and Donna Karan by Patrick Demarchelier.
Two very different artist but gives the same feeling to me. Power and strength of the modern age women.
Also, Donna Karan's shoot looked like Ada Choi in Fly with Me.

Burberry did themselves justice too.
Another one by Mario. Simple, modern and class are the words.
Even with so many models, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley shines more than the others.
Maybe because of her bright hair and presence.
Victoria's Secret Angel and now replacing Megan Fox for Transformers, she is the bomb!

Christy Turlington, Karen Elson and Natalia Vodianova.
Three very different but empowering goddess blends themselves together to create this shoot by Steven Meisel.
A simple look of what seems to be the backstage of LV's  fashion show speaks more than it seems.
What's better to show their collection than the backstage where everything happens!

Prada was made magnificent by Meisel with two series of the photoshoot. Above is the mens in black and white and the side and bottom shoot in color for women.

It feels like a 1960s Hairspray moment for me here. The huge hairdo and performance and romance to it hits the perfect mark.

The shot on the shoes is just perfect to describe the 1960s Hairspray moment. Afterall it's all music and of course, DANCE!

Lanvin's new campaign looked like a improved version of their pervious campaign.
The previous was plainer and simple where as this plays a lot with texture and fabrication.
With the lining of the background, the three looked like fabulous giantess ready to strike.
And of course it is by Meisel.

Yet another fabulous job by Mert and Marcus.
Though it is not Calvin Klein collection and just CK jeans, this shoot shines potential and artistry that I have to post it up.
Something about the rough red paint outline and black and white image speaks to me.
And Lara Stone definitely made it better.
This is an ad that sells sensuality without going over to raunchy sexual image.

Yves Saint Laurent reused the simple frame like theme but in black and white for this season.
To me, it do not seem overused or out of date, after all something so classic and simple can never go out of style.
DariaWerbowy shoot by Ineez and Vinoodh.

I know I said it was a short post,  but it made too long with all the fabulous shoots. it is short in a sense, less words. Just the images taking all the space. Apologies. Enjoy.

By the way, if you want to see more of these campaigns, go to FASHION GONE ROGUE. I did not post all the photos of each brand. just one of each which I think was the best!

And this is a new layout, like it? The rate it please?

That's all. Ciao.

Men Must Haves for Moi

I wanted to post this in the previous post but figured it was too long. So I make a new post. problems solved.
These are my favs of the season and must haves if I were to have the money. Enjoy and tell me what you think. There's clothes and accesories!

Terracotta/Chain mail armor Jackets.
Rough and stylish from Burberry and Dolce & Gabbana.
Shirts are the way to go. Make sure it's breezy and light though.
Stripes and plain black? Dolce and Gabbana has the perfect ones.
Trench and jackets are cool too.
Not summer but good for a cool spring breeze perhaps?
McQueen's might be too flamboyant? Very A.L.T?
Take Burberry then.

Hoodies on a shirt and parka vest is mighty fine too.
All from Bottage Veneta.

For bags, Lv's monogram city tote works mighty fine. Is monogram really back?
Nothing goes wrong with the right duffel bag. Bottega is the way to go!
Fab "men bags"! (personal joke with my friend)

What's summer without your perfect sandals?
Bottega Veneta has something with comfort and style.

Well, all in all I loved Bottega Veneta the most. I would get most of the stuff they have in the show. Second thoughts on the vest though I love it. Don't have the biceps for it. The Terracotta jackets would be a love for me. Bags from Burberry does a pretty god job too but I can't seem to find the bag shot. Am sure you've seen it in my previous post on Burberry.

Oh and this is my fav of the season!! McQueen side zip sweater? Forgot to post it up here till I talked to my friend. LOL

In conclusion of this, I have to say, "If only I have the money for it". I wish. Seriously! Hopefully in the future I can.

Ciao

And The Other Men I liked?

Given the suggestive title, thoughts might go wild. Just to clarify, by "Men I Liked?" meant menswear that I liked. Not what you goons are thinking. So anyway, yes, we are still at menswear. I've looked up quite a few collections so far and there's more to see. I saw Prada, Versace, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Dolce and Gabbana and more. But I have to say the only ones that I've seen so more that I liked was Bottega Veneta and Dolce and Gabbana.

Well first off would be Bottega Veneta. It makes me think of V for Vendetta all the time! But still, the show was good. Everything was earthy for them. Like summer in a way. Adventures, hikings, etc. Not so much of the bright happy summer. But in a cooling mood which is best for it. Everything felt light and featherweight. And suprisingly, a lot of scruffy looking models with beard, which was what made the adventurous fell of it. Rough men ready to take on Mother Nature, huh?

Even their suits looked more rough but still crisp. I'm not sure how to explain. It looks dirty but still neat, perhaps? And I love the white parka nylon jacket, I think. Never really sure but the middle look below. Definitely fab!

And then there is Dolce and Gabbana. After a gracious Fall Winter for women, they decided to go for the same take for men. A back to the roots mood. Emphasizing what they were originally at. Sicily. Although it's Italian, some of the looks reminds me of French paper delivery boy with a cap to match. Maybe all Europeans have the same feel. But I felt French there.

Dolce and Gabbana's show this time, makes me feel like it has a couple of different phase. From crisp suits, to smarts and to casual weekends which I love. The suits though don't really look in favour to an Asian like me. One word. SHORT! Three buttons look too long for my body. But I read somewhere three buttons makes a short guy, taller? Is it?

But the smarts and weekends were drop dead gorgeous! The striped shirt, the rolled up khakis, and yet another "Terracotta" jacket were all too fab to give up. Also with the washed denims and sweaters. Yummy!

A lot of the others have very interesting choices. Like Prada doing a collection I like to call, "Uniforms Unite" (sounds like a superhero comic). Everything in the show was showing uniforms around the world. From businessman, nurses, surgeons to constuction workers. Everything was uniform inspired. Not a big fan but was rather interesting. The colors were good. Fit for summer, I'd say. Take a look:

Of surgeons and nurses?

And accessories were good too, especially from Bottega! The sandals and the duffel bag are to die for! Another two items to my obsession list!!!!!

Till next time! Ciao.

PS: Personal update soon! Have to figure out what to write. Mind you, I don't really have anything that interesting about my life.
