"Paris, Capitale de la Mode du Monde" Part 1

Finally I am covering the long awaited Paris. I know the actual Paris Fashion Week has passed for a month now but I was quite busy for the past weeks with work and assignments - resulting to the lack of posting. Also, there is so much wonder in Paris this season that I had to go through slowly and shortlist some of my favourites from Paris this year.

Yet again, a lot of designers focus on the whole feminine and masculine concept. The hard and soft effect. Designers from Yves Saint Laurent, Celine, Karl Lagerfeld played on these points. It seems that equality among men and women is huge now. But whatever makes the designers create, makes sense.

On another note, texture play is big too. Using all sorts of different materials, complimentary or clashing to create fabulous outfits. Well, it is the spring and summer collection, anyone could use some color and funkiness for coming spring 2010. So thumbs up to Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Galliano, McQueen, and Lanvin. These are just the few that I noticed and loved.

By the way, as you can see on the title, it writes 'Part 1', so this means there another part. Mostly due to the fact that I love so much from Paris that it will be too long to put in one post.

So now to the some shoots from the runway.

Yves Saint Laurent

As usual, Stafano made a great collection.
Always utilizing the black and white, soft and hard and NEW this season, strawberry prints.
Note on the first two pics, the red dots are cute little strawberries.
The leather apron is fantastic and of course the shoes, very 20s in my opinion.
This season like the last, Stefano created very wearable daywear for women.
Nothing too extravagant for daily wear, which is what the society wants.

Louis Vuitton

Marc did an excellent job for LV too.
Similar to his own line (Marc by Marc Jacobs), this season is filled with fun and joy.
Funkiness, I'd say.
The afro, the mix of materials and colors, the bags and accessories topped the topper, just like Blake Edwards.

Celine

Celine made a come back this year by Phoebe Philo.
Excellent collection. Very clean cut and almost similar to YSL's style, which I love.
Though that being said, it is still quite apart from YSL.
I'd say is a mix of YSL and Burberry. XD
The daywear and trench is simple and clean and evening cocktail is simply stunning.
Using limited palette and with such collection, Good Job! Miss Phoebe.
Oh, and this collection is like most others now, portraying women in a stronger point of view but somehow still as delicate as ever.

Balenciaga

The grudge look as Nicolas put it.
Very grudge looking indeed. For me it felt more like a dead knight coming back for revenge.
Well, still in the grudge theme.
The hoodie jacket was awesome and the cocktails are weird in a good way.
Shoes, are of course fabulous with chain mail styled around it, which is what made me think of the knight thing.

So okay, this is not the end yet. Another post will be up soon. Paris part two but mainly pictures with a bit of comment. But later....

The Big 2-0 Story

OKay, a few minutes before my birthday is over I decided to blog about it. Hahahaha. Though I think by the time I finish with this, it'll be past 12.

So my first birthday in Melbourne. I have to say I thought it was fun. On the eve of it, me and a few of my friends/housemate went out for a marvelous dinner at a place called.... Err.... I don't remember but it's in Melbourne Central, near the Hoyts Cinema Counter. LOL.
And after the meal which was delicious, we went to Cho Goa, also in Melb. Central for a drink and a bit of chit chat till around 11.30pm and went home, feeling tired and have to work for tomorrow at 7.30am.

But I did stay up until 12.07am of 20th October. Can't help but to wait until it's past 12 and it is my birthday before I could sleep. Was happy for that because at 12.05, Adrian and Wing came and greeted me with a Canton vers. of Birthday song.
This year, I am apart from lots of my close friends from Malaysia and also my precious Mom, Dad, sister and brother (Though I always fight with him...), I felt grateful that I was able to come to Melbourne and meeet more great friends - Adrian, Wing, Dimas, Samuel,Morgan, Jay, Deanna, Sheau Huey, Celine, May, Saem, Azwin, Phik Munn, Edna, Shu Shan, Evelyn and BF, Nova and the list goes on.

Another good news for my birthday is that it marked the end of my observation a.k.a non-salary working period and to my 2 weeks training where I will get paid 10AUD per hour - CASH weekly.
Now it's just a few pics from my birthday eve night that I took with my shitty phone camera because I was smart enough to leave my camera charging and forgot to take it out.
Indulge.....

Morg and Adrian being POSERS!

Me and Wing

A toast! For everyone in everything!!!

Calamari Rings and Chips

Porterhouse Steak =)

Toblerone
A mix of Baileys', Kaulua, Frangelico, Cream and Honey... Delicious!

Nice, right? Anyway as I end this blog it's already 1/4 past 12, so I have to sleep son because tomorrow is a 7am shift. Sad, I know. Finally as I did it in FB, I will do it here as well. Thank you so much to everyone who took the time in FB, in person or by texting to wish me. I really appreciate it. Seriously miss everyone back home in Malaysia, from Kampar or Subang or KL. I wish everyone one of you well. I will definitely try to visit everyone when I'm back next year and hopefully with a cheap air ticket ;)
As for those from Uni now, hope you've done well for the final assessments and I hope that I'll be able to see you guys again in class next semester. And for Swinnerton peeps, see you when I see you whether it's bumping into you on the way to toilet, laundry, or kitchen!. Thanks a million!!!!

And remember I am now "twenteen" (A term that my friends in INTI taught me) and not TWENTY! Okay? Not that old yet or maybe I'm trying to escape from the aging process. Probably most of you reading would hit me on the head for saying that because a lot of you are much older! LOL!

Good night. That's All.

PS: I notice next year, my birthday is on 20th October 2010 or 20.10.2010. Cool! Can't wait. (I know it's lame....)
PSS: Some pictures and photos I took are not with me yet. Will post in FB asap. =3

Milan Moda Settimana

Moda Settimana a.k.a Fashion Week in Italian.
I'm not sure whether the grammar is correct or not but I thought I should try something fancy once in a while. So for those who knows Italian, do not LAUGH!

Okay, as some might have guessed or maybe not, this post is be about Milan Fashion Week, which explains where the fancy words came. Milan, Milan, Milan. One of world's most significant fashion capital and produced the more well-known brands to the mass audience. One might not be interested in fashion but names like Prada and Gucci are house-hold names known to even the most fashion oblivious person. And it all came from the lovely Milan. Now to the main course, brands that I loved for this season from Milan. Feast your eyes with these delicious 'Moda' of Milan.

Versace
I particularly liked this year's evening wear from Versace.
As always Donatella knew how to work a woman's body.
I did not like much on the first part of the collection. Not feeling the prints of it.
(Go to style.com to see what I meant.)

Prada
This season's Milan favorite would have to be Prada.
From smart casual to simple day wear and the SHOES!
From afar it looked impeccable but when you see upclose, all the seaming are not done or sewn.
Everything was all just roughly cut but made it fabulous.
And also to the gorgeous prints. Looked like it was from Hawaii/Miami postcards!
It was love at first sight!

Jill Sanders
Loved it. All the rough cut out patches sewn so perfectly to the dresses and coats.

Gucci
This season like some other designers, Gucci has gone BONDAGE mood.
Look at the straps in everything so edgy but still feminine in its own way.

Dolce and Gabbana
Sicilian made fashion!
D&G goes back to their roots with laces and frills.
Very Spanish/Argentinian/South American feel.
The matadors and flamenco dancers!

Right! That's all and as I was writing this, Paris have had their fashion week but I'll blog on it later. Sorry for the late updates, not that anyone reads these crappy shits. Ciao.

Mid-autumn at Southbank

Mid-autumn came and go as fast as you can say "Mooncake!". This year in particular, the festival was celebrated in a way I never did before. Me and a couple of my housemates went to the Yarra River at Southbank and enjoyed a delicious meal of mooncake, picnic style.

We sat by the riverbank, brought some mooncakes and a bottle of wine and enjoyed the moonlit night. Thank god, the weather cleared up that night after unpredictable rain for the past week and we could see the moon perfectly. Shining bright and as round as ever. So we sat there, ate the mooncakes and played some word games that involved country and Hollywood movie names.

Lemme teach you how to play, though I suspect most people in the world knows it. So we start with an alphabet, say P? Then you had to say a country name or movie that starts with P. "Penelope!" (It is a movie!) Then continues with the end alphabet of that name which is E.

See, it's easy and I bet most of you reading this knows about it and thinks I'm an idiot and lame. LOL. We had to do something. Since there was no other stuff to do by the river. Oh I almost forgot, we went to Crown Casino which was nearby to take a look because me and my other friend never went there before. For me, I never went any casino before. Only 20 and Malaysia's one and only Genting Casino only allows 21 and above, but Crown is generous enough to have an age limit of 18 and above. So I went. It was fun, not bad... =P

Here's some of the shots we got there =)

Mooncake at hand!
Jay posing beside me. LOL

The first bite by Adrian!

Wing eating the fancy type Snowskin.

Cheers everybody!

Moon so bright, Night so fine...

That's all. No shots of Crown because they don't allow cameras inside. And the sad thing about this year is I couldn't find any traditional Snowskin mooncake (Lotus paste and Egg yolk) in Melbourne. All they have is fancy ones for Snowskin like durian, raspberry, corn, mango, banana and chocolate. I WANT MY SNOWSKIN! TwT

From NY to London

London. A place where fashion is as major as the distant relatives - NY, Milan and Paris. Although I have to say I am not very much in touch with this area of 'fabulousness' as the others. I must apologize for the lack of knowledge and I swear I will keep in touch more. One of the most notable label is of course Burberry Prorsum by Christopher Bailey. This year Bailey decides to move back from Milan to its birth place, London. Endorsed by the very famous Emma Watson made me love this label more than ever.

Also thanks to Burberry, Londoners got to watch the show live in the flagship store in London. This is what I call private show made public. What a nice thought from Burberry.

Indulge in its iconic trench coats and draped outfits.

The draping is something unique and different from Bailey's previous season.
Draped and the perfect silhouette made it stood out so much.

The iconic trench. Hard edge but fits a female so good.
Thanks to the draped inner wear.
Note the shoes are draped too.

Trench made soft with the ruche shoulders.

Burberry menswear always captured me.
The classic but modern look with the British Essence.

Alright, that's all. Once again I must say I am sorry for the shirt review on London. Tune in for Milan and Paris!
