<br />
This post marks the end of this blog, I am sad to end it but this is also a new beginning for me. I had a very enlightening speech from a fellow blogger, <a href="http://ladymelbourne.com.au/"><b>Lady Melbourne</b></a> in my class the other day and it was a great one.<br />
<br />
Thus I have decided to change my domain to wordpress. Please do continue to visit my blog!!!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://myvanitypress.wordpress.com/"><span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace; font-size: x-large;"><b>Vanity Press</b></span></a></div>Calvinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12980195289441480904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4965788540641617811.post-56789575071348680292010-09-09T01:16:00.001+10:002010-09-09T02:30:34.325+10:00Should I Change?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TIeoHt83kJI/AAAAAAAABX8/XzZIryYCT1s/s1600/two-timer.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TIeoHt83kJI/AAAAAAAABX8/XzZIryYCT1s/s320/two-timer.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif; font-size: large;"><b>What I am about to say might sound like a betrayal"</b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Just the other day, I had a very enlightening talk from two RMIT Journalism graduates whom graced themselves in my lecture. ONe of them is Lady Melbourne, a successful fashion blogger and also part of the Melbourne Street Fashion and Amelia, another fantastic journalist which I forgot where is she working now. I feel really bad for that but I seriously forgot. But she worked for many different publications before, from Fairfax to Mx. So she's great.<br />
<br />
<br />
So what i was going to say is that after the talk, I am considering to change my blog from Blogspot to Wordpress. I am not sure yet but the decision is almost final. What Lady Melbourne or Phoebe said was that Wordpress</span></span> allows more than reasonable features for a free domain and it's quite fantastic. </div><div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">I am not sure yet but I will confirm as soon as possible. This blog will remain as it is at the moment but when my Wordpress starts, I will move over there.</div><div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">I feel really bad now. I'm kind of betraying Blogger for Wordpress after a whole year of posting in Blogger. Well, all I have to say is "You have to move to greener pastures?"</div><div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">Well, it's not final yet but I think it's like a 90% chance of me moving. What do you think? Though I am not sure there's anyone who would be replying to this.</div><div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">Anyway check out these places:</div><div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace; text-align: left;"><a href="http://ladymelbourne.com.au/"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>LadyMelbourne</b></span></a></div><div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace; text-align: left;"><a href="http://ameliaalisoun.wordpress.com/"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Amelia Alisoun</b></span></a></div><div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.melbournestreetfashion.com/"><span style="font-size: large;"><b style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">Melbourne Street Fashion</b></span></a></div><div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;"><br />

It's quite hilarious and fresh to see Anna not being so serious and have some humor in her. Though no matter where she is, she still has the aura of her that intimidates people. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">She is the Devil Wears Prada - well, devil with the bob cut.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Marc is a fun to watch too. Enjoy, the interview on Fashion's Night Out and reliving some past experience of Anna and Marc. Love the commet by Marc, "But, unfortunately, or fortunately, one can't say no to Anna." That shows Anna's power in a way.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">On another note, Anna kinda complained about Lady Gaga during her performance for Met Ball.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Well, the last week hadn't been kind to me. As you might have read the previous post. It wasn't smooth sailing but I have to say, I did act like a drama queen. Oh well, we all have times like this. Plus, this semester's assignments are crazy! Maybe this is how you feel like in your final year (3rd). Well it's a first for me - like a virgin. Now speaking of a virgin, who better to represent than Queen Madonna.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">____________________________________</div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_GtzGqt8bl2EFwN-bYwiyXSwzWhp9rWHBJiEoQzTlBVySN-1kOzCU0gQ1Cra-pYmNWHBGvpXXoI7fF7Qj55O4yb93vsaYH8e_z-BSBOWGtxHBZOySCJDnk6Adkr0fqZbiAyor7c4Qc_Fb/s1600/dolcegabbanacampaign4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_GtzGqt8bl2EFwN-bYwiyXSwzWhp9rWHBJiEoQzTlBVySN-1kOzCU0gQ1Cra-pYmNWHBGvpXXoI7fF7Qj55O4yb93vsaYH8e_z-BSBOWGtxHBZOySCJDnk6Adkr0fqZbiAyor7c4Qc_Fb/s320/dolcegabbanacampaign4.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>Madonna A Virgin Again? </b></div><div style="text-align: left;">Well, we all know that she is everything but a virgin. But this time she just might be one. Well, I'm not sure whether she did it beforre but for fashion, I'm pretty sure that it is the first for her - excluding the Vogue MV because it's a MV?</div><div style="text-align: left;"></div><div style="text-align: left;">Well, back to the topic, Madonna did a accidental directing for this season's Miu Miu commercial. When I say accidental, it is. It was like any good old day when Madonna stormed into the Miu Miu campaign shoot to invite photog Mert and Marcus for dinner. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
When she was there, she just decided that she wants to direct the commercial for Miu Miu and then the crew said she won't be paid, in case she wants it. When agreed on the non-payment deal (She's Madonna and she's rich!), she whipped her iPod out and directed. Typical queen. She gets what she want when she wants it. </div><div style="text-align: left;"></div><div style="text-align: left;">I think she did quite a good job. Well, must say it is a typical Madonna-esque music video. </div><div style="text-align: left;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><object height="250" width="400"><param name="movie"

The pieces were grafitti'ed to perfection sold for $550 per piece.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">You might think they're nuts to sell them for that price. But check this out, the jeans are individually hand painted.</div><div style="text-align: left;"></div><div style="text-align: left;">Whoever buys these jeans would have a special disclaimer, "wash carefully only by hands and never iron!". You wouldn't want to machine wash $550 away.</div><div style="text-align: left;"></div><div style="text-align: left;"></div><div style="text-align: left;">So this might be considered as art but it's still just jeans or is it? Would you buy an over $500 jeans to wear or hang it in your wall as art?</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I say they make fine pieces for your lounge.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

Well, here's an alternate doll for fashionistas in New York. Barneys recently commissioned artist, Andrew Yang to create these one of a kind couture dolls of Vogue editors - Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">These dolls are all hand sewn and painted to perfection. Couture dolls. Even they're hair were made exclusively to fit. Andrew had to special order a wig for Anna and personally cut the bob out and Grace's hair were actually permed and not factory made. Truly exquisite but I think there's two more missing. Andre Leon Talley and Toone Goodman. They would make a fine group of dolls.<br />
<br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">These dolls will be auctioned off on Aug 31st on <b><a href="http://www.charitybuzz.com/">Charity Buzz</a></b> for the New York City Aids Fund.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: center;">____________________________________</div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: left;">Well, that's all for now and I hope I will go back to normal and post regularly soon. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

You never know what is gonna befall on you. I conclude that there is no such thing as a good day! Seriously!<br />
<br />
Maybe I'm being cynical here but seriously. God! I never cursed so much in facebook before! Probably gonna hang myself now. Have no mood whatsoever to read the news for in-class quiz later, so I'm here ranting my shit out!<br />
<br />
Let me tell you about my day. Well, half a day. It's only 12 pm now. Last night slept around 1 am and woke up at 7 am without any alarm buzzing its lungs out to wake me. Fantastic! Then have a nice weather with sun and chill. My favorite.<br />
<br />
And you know, I thought, "Hey, might be a good day today. Came to uni early and will have time to rush in some news and blog a bit on the couture piece I have yet to do."<br />
<br />
Went to uni and have a great cup of coffee. And then shit starts to happen, maybe it's the coffee or the banana I ate last night. Stomach started rumbling and you know, you get what I mean. Not good. Got an email while in toilet, and somehow left my phone somewhere without knowing in the process from toilet to library.<br />
<br />
When I got to the library, the internet fucking suck. Can't load shit without waiting for 10 million minutes and Mozilla kept going to "Not Responding" mode. And then when I reach for my phone, it's gone! F**K!!!!!!!!<br />
<br />
<br />
Tried calling it but no one picked up. So i deducted and think I dropped it somewhere near toilet or on the way to the library. So yeah, there is no such thing as a good day. At least not for me today.<br />
<br />
I never pray to god but please let me have my phone back, god!!! Or at least let me have a nicer day to follow. Feel like hanging myself. Having a migraine now but surprisingly I can still write.<br />
<br />
Anyhow, just ranting out, so that I won't jump of the building. <br />
<br />

Spoiler Alert!<i>Editor's note: This is not in anyway fashion related.</i><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimGs4DtfQr32OFWXYEtOZ6ZYcRnW6_xhwQw5h7P-V73O_i1HBK-Ogl3gwe8KEV1ASCs9WVEyZC3xpiFJxh6HSzAmSkPELEBUUxWaFvADCZ3YEf_YtXA_4qaLFa25JrBkuPh7MahX90crXP/s1600/the_expendables_movie_poster_statham.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimGs4DtfQr32OFWXYEtOZ6ZYcRnW6_xhwQw5h7P-V73O_i1HBK-Ogl3gwe8KEV1ASCs9WVEyZC3xpiFJxh6HSzAmSkPELEBUUxWaFvADCZ3YEf_YtXA_4qaLFa25JrBkuPh7MahX90crXP/s400/the_expendables_movie_poster_statham.jpg" width="275" /></a></div><br />
Okay, I think everyone knows the hype of THE EXPENDABLES. No? Then you're totally missing out. It's the most action packed movie to date for this year and maybe the last. Then again, I didn't really watch anything of action genre - does Avatar count?<br />
<br />
Well, anyway I went for the movie because my mates, Morg and Adrian were crazy over it. ONe reason. Old guys playting mercenaries. Well, I'm being harsh. To put it in a nice way, it is all the all stars group of veteran for action packed movies. We have Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crew and Randy Couture as the main characters, The Expendables team.<br />
<br />
Honestly I know only half of the men. <i>Sylvester </i>is who he is, duh? Do I need to say more?<i> Jason Statham</i> is from some movie I've seen before - no idea which. <i>Jet Li</i> - I'm Chinese, of course I know him. And <i>Terry Crew</i>, the dude from <i>White Chicks</i> that loves to listen to A Thousand Miles.<br />
<br />
So yeah, and then we have the not so important characters that only appears for less than a few minutes. We have Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger (I can't never spell the last name, copy and paste!). Arnold was on screen for what? 60 seconds? And the director made a joke with him. Watch it and you'll know.<br />
<br />
So all in all, it's a good movie if you like action. It's what I call a muscle movie. All action and no story. Honestly with all that action and fighting, no storyline is needed.<br />
<br />
What I am crazy about is Jason Statham. No. I am not crazy about him. It's the character. I now label him as the dude with mad skills with throwing blades and slicing people off in incredible speed and accuracy. His character, Lee Christmas, former SAS (Special Air Service for the British) was off the hook! His fighting scenes were the best. Well, there were others.<br />
Like:<br />
Blade stabbed in throat and twisted around until blood were squirting out like a fountain.<br />
Crazy gun that blasts a man into half. (upper body torn from the lower due to force)<br />
Clean slicing off the hand.<br />
Crazy machine gun that blows the head off.<br />
<br />
Yup, all crazy shit but it was gooood. So anyway talk later.<br />
<br />

Well, the title says it all. If you didn't notice the last Sunday was the one year anniversary for my blog. I did not post then because I have no internet and I have shit loads of assignments to do. So I'm posting it now in between my classes.<br />
<br />
Thinking back to a year ago, I never would have thought that I'd made it this far. From past experience, my blogs last 2 to 3 weeks or a month at most but now it's been a year. I think my blog evolved a lot from layout to writing style and what I wrote about. At first it was partial daily journal for myself and some runway coverage.<br />
<br />
Somehow on the way, it changed when I came up with a fashion digest post where I post fashion news I think people should know about.<br />
<br />
One things for sure though, my experience writing my blog, lead me to understanding more about the fashion industry, when I first start, I only know very few main stream designers but now I know more and I even dived into menswear.<br />
<br />
I remember I wanted to write a fashion-ish blog after my first runway show for Versace in Malaysia for STYLO but I kept it off for quite a while. I loved reading the blogs of others like BryanBoy, Tavi, Toounit, and more. I also envied them for having a fashion blog and I never got myself to make one until I came to Melbourne where I realize I have to start before it's too late. So I started and here I am now. <br />
<br />
In another year's time, I will be a fresh graduate and I hope I would land a job in a prominent fashion magazine in Australia or maybe if I'm lucky enough, an assistant job in New York. I don't care how much I get paid, I just wanna be there.<br />
<br />
This is my ambition that I discovered 4 years ago and I love it to its very bits.<br />
<br />
I hope whoever comes here continue to do so. Love ya all and spread the word. I know this blog is like reading other sites but I working on that. Till then,<i><span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"> CIAO!</span></i>Calvinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12980195289441480904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4965788540641617811.post-68249124443037147652010-08-13T15:05:00.002+10:002010-08-14T15:24:27.875+10:00I Was Right?<b>UPDATE: Gisele wore a Antonio Berardi for the cover and she did have Dolce on in the inner of the Antonio dress. I was half right? Sorry!!!</b><br />
<br />
After guessing the outfits on the September cover, I couldn't help but go to style.com and find the outfits that was worn on the cover. And I was right for most - still can't guess what Halle wore. Maybe Altuzarra or something?<br />
<br />
So, my findings shown my guesses on Emily, Gisele and Kate were right! Emily wore a Valentino lace dress, Gisele was in Dolce and Gabbane and Kate in the military navy trench. See below!<br />

I wanted to post up the covers of Septembers I found earlier but I just have to wait till American Vogue's cover to release before posting any others in.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TGTNxeqxgtI/AAAAAAAABVs/fKo7naEEDiw/s1600/gisele1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TGTNxeqxgtI/AAAAAAAABVs/fKo7naEEDiw/s320/gisele1.jpg" /></a>So fresh from press is the American Vogue's September cover by Halle Berry, our first African American beauty to win the Best Actress for Oscars (Monster's Ball), second to appear on Vogue after Naomi. On the cover, she graced herself beautifully in a Cleopatra bob hair and a embellished strap dress. The bob hair looks rather interesting on her. Very exotic and egyptian goddess look. Well, it is the Cleopatra hair but for me it looks more of a shorter and darker version of Anna Wintour's hair.<br />
<br />
Then we have a few other September covers that I love. On the list is Kate Moss for Vogue UK (like the 100 millionth time she was on - well 30th), Gisele for Harpers UK and Emily Blunt of Devil Wears Prada for Elle UK. All of them are just fab fab fab!!!<br />
<br />
Kate Moss on a stool wearing a gorgeous navy trench (possibly Burberry Prorsum) is to die for. Emily Blunt was in fabulous Dior, I presume - the hint of lingerie as outerwear. And of course, fabulous Gisele for Harper's Bazaar UK in a lacey dress which I think is from Valentino. So enjoy the covers and go get your copy now! Am heading for mine in an hour!!!<br />

I know I haven't post my couture views yet and S/S 2011 is coming in 3 weeks or so. Apologies for that but here's something to pacify you at the moment. Am working on couture and will post soon if possible.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">__________________________</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TGNU1yxl8PI/AAAAAAAABUs/PCmAwvw1kxk/s1600/images.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="100" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TGNU1yxl8PI/AAAAAAAABUs/PCmAwvw1kxk/s200/images.jpg" width="100" /></a><b>No More Rip-Offs</b></div><div style="text-align: left;">There had been much debate of intellectual property since a few years ago, from music, art to fashion. Now New York Senator Charles E. Schumer introduced a bill named, "Innovative Design Protection and Piracy Prevention Act." to the US Senate. This provides limited protection to authentic designs and prevent knock-offs.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">For famous brands, this might not be much of a problem like the monograms from LV, Gucci or Burberry. They have the money and their patterns are internationally recognized and patented. But for most designers, where their collections may be original and still get knocked off by fast fashion retailers. So this law would protect their design for three years as soon as production starts, so brands like Zara wouldn't be able to knock off Proenza Schouler's PS1 bag or Allen Schwartz would might knock off Vera Wang's dress for Chelsea Clinton.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Here's one example of knock offs:</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TGNUXFTdD7I/AAAAAAAABUk/BF2tV_GmPiU/s1600/proenzaps1aic.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="148" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TGNUXFTdD7I/AAAAAAAABUk/BF2tV_GmPiU/s400/proenzaps1aic.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">__________________________</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

Well Emma Watson. She is known for her role as Harry Potter's trio Hermione Granger, hence the image of long wavy brunette curls is at mind. But now Emma went pixie like Mia Farrow and Twiggy.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">The entertainment gossips blows the horn of rebellious age and the star spiral like her fellow teen stars, LiLo, Cyrus and Britney. But rest assured none of these tragedy would befall Emma, in my opinion. Personally I think it's just a hair cut, a change of style after god knows how long of the same hair-cut, mainly for the Hermione image.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Now since the movie is at its end, why not a new hair cut to go ways from the typical Hermione face? I see Emma as the Ivy League actress like Bosworth or Julia rather than the diva dive and die route of Lilo, Britney or Cyrus.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
She has a bright future ahead and who knows, the next Gywneth, Julia, Bosworth or Meryl?</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">__________________________</div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>Dolce and Gabbana for Beach Soccer</b></div><div style="text-align: left;">Well, it's safe to say that Domenico and Stefano would be the stars in sports, particularly beach soccer or just soccer. First landing a design contract with Chelsea and now Milan<b> </b>Beach Soccer. They definitely have a hand in sportswear<b> </b>designs. Take a look at these sketches below and these designs from my previous <a href="http://diarium-ejus.blogspot.com/2010/08/fashion-digest-grey-is-young-vera-rings.html"><b>post</b></a>.</div><div style="text-align: left;">The first is the uniform for beach soccer, simple brief and a beach towel. Be it designers, painters, photographers or directors. They might have a certain feel and signature to it and you would know if it is theirs when you see it.<br />
<br />
But I feel that Juergen Teller is a bit way too much. I understand there are differences between his works but it's getting bored. He shoot quite a few Marc Jacobs campaigns with the same feel. Monotonous camel-ish color feel, with a white border, overly bright and the brand at the bottom.<br />
<br />
It getting a bit old for me. Having a signature is one thing but being repetitive is another. here's another one. Feel the repetitiveness? I do. Like it but come on, change a little.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRrM44k_vWXraU6runxGTe2PZjsdQFICwVcbP2RDDpzxPzKqRMwK1GzGGPy3BBCP75sAUKg0W-HNxsUMLRmOTYHe-p6UjEqf8MZrHRcK8gXPVdkWTeL-A1GV9bLJZrT58Yout7cVYClJxd/s1600/jamieb.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRrM44k_vWXraU6runxGTe2PZjsdQFICwVcbP2RDDpzxPzKqRMwK1GzGGPy3BBCP75sAUKg0W-HNxsUMLRmOTYHe-p6UjEqf8MZrHRcK8gXPVdkWTeL-A1GV9bLJZrT58Yout7cVYClJxd/s320/jamieb.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Still love your work but when the Celine ad came out, I was like "Ugh!". Having the same pattern for one designer is okay, but for both Marc and Celine too?<br />
<br />
So like Stylefile says, "Yea, Nay or Eh?"<br />

I am doing something extremely bad here which is copy and paste. Who cares, you people just want info, right? I took this from Fashionista.com, so thank them for it. I'm just here to spread the news out to people!<br />
<br />
<b>London</b> <br />
-<b>Giorgio Armani</b> will be hosting an invitation only cocktail party with British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman. The gathering will take place at the designer’s store on London’ New Bond Street.<br />
-The World of Manolo, <b>Manolo Blahnik</b>’s new Liberty pop-up store will be launching that night.<br />
-There will be a number of events held at <b>Selfridges</b>, including a Q&A with Peter Pilotto and the unveiling of a new Mulberry shop-in-shop. Chanel will also participate, giving free manicures, which they did last year in NYC.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<b>Sydney</b><br />
-Australian Vogue will produce a fabulous Fashion’s Night Out in Sydney on September 9. All we know so far is that the night will begin at 5:30 in <b>Martin Place</b> and there will be a Vogue after party at <b>Ivy</b>. Oh, and a bunch of cute Australian designers made <a href="http://www.vogue.com.au/vogue+tv/?pid=F2I6AYWchBgQuSZiv4VMsbouN22gSkVj">this video</a>.<br />
<br />
<b>New York</b><br />
-<b>Macy’s Herald Square</b> will be holding the “Ultimate Tailgate Party,” a tie-in with Tommy Hilfiger’s most recent campaign, which we actually really like. To celebrate 25 years of the American brand, there will be $25 off purchases of $100 or more, which is unusual, as most stores have not offered discounts or sales for the big night.<br />
<br />
-At <b>Bloomingdale’s</b> on 59th street, GQ’s Best New Menswear Designer and CFDA Fashion Fund finalist Billy Reid will kick off his evening by presenting the debut of his exclusive collaboration with Levi’s (part of the GQ prize). After that, he’ll be heading downtown to his Bond street store for live music and lots of burbon. We’ve never not had fun at a Billy Reid event and the store’s proximity to Oak and Rogan guarantee a block party vibe.<br />
<br />
-Around the corner at <b>Eva New York</b>, Timo Weiland and Farfetch.com are hosting an intimate cocktail party. The well-edited Bowery boutique will function as an intimate setting for the designers to meet with their customers and enjoy refreshments<br />
<br />
-At <b>Helmut Lang</b> in the Meatpacking District, there is talk of a hipster extravaganza featuring tunes by the Misshapes (we figured they’d be djing something) and a photo installation by the Cobrasnake.<br />
<br />
-<b>What Goes Around Comes Around</b>, one of our favorite vintage shops, has commissioned Pamela Love, Beth Blake and Melissa Akey of Thread Social, George McCracken and Stefan Milkanich of Gilded Age to create limited edition Custom Vintage collections to be revealed on FNO. For example, Pamela Love plans to customize 5 vintage ’60s hippie tooled leather bags, while George McCracken will create a collection of vintage repurposed surfing t-shirts from the ’80s. All of the pieces will be available for sale and all of the designers will be available for chatting at WGACA’s SoHo store on September 10.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">________________________________<br />
<div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: left;">That's all I have now, when <a href="http://fashionista.com/2010/08/meredith-melling-burke-on-gossip-girl-and-other-major-fno-news/#more-56785">Fashionista</a> posts more, I will update here too.<br />
<br />
Speaking of FNO, Australian Vogue made a video to promote FNO. It's a remake of last year's New York FNO video (intro by SJP). Watch it here > <a href="http://player.theplatform.com/ps/player/pds/_TxEuA_-Ma?pid=F2I6AYWchBgQuSZiv4VMsbouN22gSkVj">Australian VOGUE FNO!</a><br />
<br />
What do you think? I think it's cute and all but isn't it like a cheap rip off? I sure hope that Vogue Oz would come up with something original and new for it. I've seen the NY one which is more nicely tune with the music and dialogue.<br />
<br />
<br />
Here's the NY version from last year:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><object height="325" width="400"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wrG1m3J0IKY&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wrG1m3J0IKY&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="400" height="325"></embed></object></div><br />
Vogue Oz's version is a bit out of tune. I'm not complaining! It is cute but maybe something different next year?What do you think? "Yea, Nay or Eh?" (my rip off from Style.com)<br />
<br />
Ciao.</div>Calvinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12980195289441480904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4965788540641617811.post-16871135040235843292010-08-03T15:28:00.001+10:002010-08-03T15:29:04.026+10:00Fashion Digest: Grey is Young?; Vera Rings Two Bells; Chelsea's Gabbana?Another digest to go. I know, I said I'm gonna do couture and noetic science but sharing new updates in the fashion world seemed more important for now. So let's hear about this before I really go for the couture and noetic - promise!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">_____________________________</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TFejjELaSWI/AAAAAAAABSU/i89Lb8d4va4/s1600/kristenmcmenamy-davidsims3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TFejjELaSWI/AAAAAAAABSU/i89Lb8d4va4/s320/kristenmcmenamy-davidsims3.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>Grey is Young?</b></div><div style="text-align: left;">So, after a few editorials and covers I can predict the new fashion movement. Grey hair. Yup, I officially says that GREY is the new black, well, is the new chic thing. Oh, you get what I mean. First we have Kristen McMenamy in a few covers from <i>Dazed & Confused</i> and <i>Vogue Italia</i>. Then I see her in <i>American Vogue's</i> Age Issue feautred in the story, "The Age of Consent". All of it with grey hair, mostly.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">And then today I saw Gaga in Vanity Fair going for the Grey Movement. I have to say grey is definitely in now. I won't be surprised if more covers or the coming S/S collections features grey hair and makeup as a theme. So watch out for that. What do you think? Going grey?</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><i><span style="font-size: x-small;">Note: Grey and Gray is the same. Brit and US spelling. In case you don't know.</span></i></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

First was for Chelsea Clinton, proud daughter of Bill and Hilary Clinton. Chelsea walked down the aisle with Vera's gorgeous strapless ivory<b> </b>with multi layered organza gown and later changed to another Vera tulle Grecian inspired gown. The groom, Marc Mezvinsky wore Christopher Bailey's coat with the Jew traditional cap (Kippah) and scarf.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Not long after that, news popped with Alicia Keys in another Vera gown - Grecian inspired white, single strapped goddess gown. Another job well done! Personally I liked the strapless ivory that Clinton wore down the aisle more.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>Chelsea's Gabbana</b></div><div style="text-align: left;">After all the rumors going around, it is confirmed that Dolce and Gabbana had signed a 3 year contract with Chelsea FC to design the club's suits for not only players but the management team. I have to say, it is just fabulous! Dolce and Gabbana never cease to amaze me with their impeccable skills in suit. I can't wait to see the end result of the suits. But for now, let's indulge in the sketches. Becoming the management/player of the team sure have its perks.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

I have lots to share but just can't decide on what yet. I have digests, couture, noetic science (Yes I know what it is) and more. So before I figure out which to post, it is already Friday and yet another weekend with no internet. So bear with me.<br />
<br />
So let's start digesting some fabulousness!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">__________________________</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhFV1PcdiDMLZsxi2lXySJ0P1w3PeCsJeRijv7R761V751dETepK6Ya_XCzcxkIxQLJrGWQiseYMeyptm_mE2gpmxHfX9HToeUMex9k59ltVaK50QWxGnTUWun0uhiqhEMomH5Hh3qH8DJ/s1600/fashion-night-out-2010-shirts.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhFV1PcdiDMLZsxi2lXySJ0P1w3PeCsJeRijv7R761V751dETepK6Ya_XCzcxkIxQLJrGWQiseYMeyptm_mE2gpmxHfX9HToeUMex9k59ltVaK50QWxGnTUWun0uhiqhEMomH5Hh3qH8DJ/s320/fashion-night-out-2010-shirts.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>FNO Everywhere</b></div><div style="text-align: left;">As all of you fashion die-hard should know, Fashion's Night Out is storming in September and not just New York. This year around, it's going international, even Sydney has it but no definite news on that. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">By the way, if anyone in New York reads this, please help me get the FNO t-shirt and jumper, want it so badly!! </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

London is sounding its trumpets and challenging that thought. A business advocacy group predicted that London will override New York as the best shopping city. Personally I love New York, different atmosphere compared to London.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
I think there's no competition. London's more old times and serene feel (in a way, just very British) and New York is more hip, chic and modern. So it's hard to compare but I would love to be in New York. What's your take? <b><a href="http://fashionista.com/2010/07/fifth-avenue-v-oxford-street-the-battle-begins/">Click for more!</a></b></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">__________________________</div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TFJmMjVEKGI/AAAAAAAABSM/_IOr7-izMj8/s1600/lily-allen-elle-uk-august-2010-cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TFJmMjVEKGI/AAAAAAAABSM/_IOr7-izMj8/s320/lily-allen-elle-uk-august-2010-cover.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>The Cat Mius?</b></div><div style="text-align: left;">If you know fashion, you would have guessed what the title means. Ring any bells? Some catnip might refresh your memory. Of course we are talking about Miu Miu (Prada's sub collection). So what happen was 4 different fashion mag covers featured this ruffled bust with flower applique dress within a month's time. A big achievement all thanks to Miu Miu's PR team, now named "Wily Foxes".</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">So thumbs up for Miu Miu. And which do you think is the best cover? I go for Lily Allen/Elle cover or Freja in Vogue British! What's your take?</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

I'll probably post more next week since I have no internet whatsoever in the weekend. You can catch me on <a href="http://twitter.com/calvinchong"><b>Twitter @calvinchong</b></a> (follow me if you wish) where I might post more fashion news with my mobile or just news about plain old me.<br />
So this weekend digest, I have an old news, a not so old one and a seam for thought (pun for food for thought?)<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">__________________________ </div><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7g0_9ltLfpCzC_WKPmpzQ2GMu0KskG4zCF4P76hjgHRk8DYglkWiXwsUArnP5IskOjKOdBkJjHj9HAUsYX9rbWRLgjTBbdhsw1MfpYBH-6dKlIp7b6rOulzYNlJv1tWrkxRNUT_kGEcmV/s1600/lady-gaga-by-nick-knight-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7g0_9ltLfpCzC_WKPmpzQ2GMu0KskG4zCF4P76hjgHRk8DYglkWiXwsUArnP5IskOjKOdBkJjHj9HAUsYX9rbWRLgjTBbdhsw1MfpYBH-6dKlIp7b6rOulzYNlJv1tWrkxRNUT_kGEcmV/s320/lady-gaga-by-nick-knight-3.jpg" /></a><b>Manly GAGA</b><br />
So as some of you might know, Gaga finally went for her transgendering process. Well, not really but it's close. She gender bend herself for Vogue Hommes Japan. From Gaga to Jo Calderone, she made yet another mind blasting transformation to add on to her already long list of weird profiles. The shoot was photographed by Nick Knight, I have to say Lady Gaga makes a better man than woman. She looks more, well, normal compared to herself. This alter ego is gonna widen her already huge fan base. The shoot will be featured in the September 2010 issue.<br />
<br />
Take a look. Does Gaga look manly or what?<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">__________________________ </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TEfdh_1d98I/AAAAAAAABQ8/IgpgoO1_umg/s1600/musecovers1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TEfdh_1d98I/AAAAAAAABQ8/IgpgoO1_umg/s320/musecovers1.jpg" /></a><b> </b></div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>Gisele on 30</b></div><div style="text-align: left;">As an avid fan of Gisele, of course I am gonna share this piece of news with you. Gisele just celebrated her 30th birthday a few days back. Well, one thing's for sure, she might be 30 but she doesn't look a day older than 21. Agreed?</div><div style="text-align: left;">Well, happy birthday to Gisele and hope she's back in modeling and stay for a while. That being said, after being pregnant and 30, she bagged quite a few covers and campaigns. There's Cavalli, and Calzedonia for campaigns. Muse, i-D, Vogue Mexico and Korea all featured her in covers and spreads. You go, Gisele!<br />
Well, as a show of respect and admiration, style.com posted some of the best videos of her. Especially love the interview with Bruno. </div><div style="text-align: left;">Go <b><a href="http://www.style.com/stylefile/2010/07/thirty-years-of-gisele-online-videos/">here</a></b> to watch the rest, I have Bruno covered below:</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><object height="325" width="400"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yhkSvo84q60&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yhkSvo84q60&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="400" height="325"></embed></object></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">__________________________</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs0wrLhUW_8DtV8Ev7PQYCYpA5W112DDyjgUvfSmqZNQ3N9_-P6dcrrXCxAajojwkLeQnY2WvyGVlBCembWUcDhDP0Q93xNlB4HeOsaOsEMQoVVuIMFuJbpRxmz-s6T3lMIUu5H4qTXzJr/s1600/rowspan-articleLarge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs0wrLhUW_8DtV8Ev7PQYCYpA5W112DDyjgUvfSmqZNQ3N9_-P6dcrrXCxAajojwkLeQnY2WvyGVlBCembWUcDhDP0Q93xNlB4HeOsaOsEMQoVVuIMFuJbpRxmz-s6T3lMIUu5H4qTXzJr/s400/rowspan-articleLarge.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Now, I read this over at <b><a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/15/fashion/15ROW.html?_r=3&ref=fashion">NYTimes online </a></b>and thought it's something worth sharing with my little to none readers. I'm not sure about some of the countries that you, readers are form but don't you realized rolling pants are the It thing this season. Aussies are all into it now.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">BTW, rolling pants literally just mean rolling up your pants to ankle height to reveal some ankle/skin with no socks on or low cut ones.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">So the question is do you think it's a fab or flop?</div><div style="text-align: left;"></div><div style="text-align: left;">Well, I think it can be both. It's really chic and all but with the wrong top and shoes, you might just be in a fashion faux pas. Read the article to do learn the ways of rolling pants. <b><a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/15/fashion/15ROW.html?_r=3&ref=fashion">Link again!</a></b></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
I totally agree with the article, it's a very subtle art to learn. Be careful with that. Take a look at Exhibit A(far left) from above. Hot pink pants never worked for me, and a military badge on a polo tee to match is just too bad. Exhibit B and C works fine. Chic and nicely done but I might consider a change of shoes. Not sure what to change into but it looks weird to me.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Word to the wise, think of body proportions before you do it. I've seen bad things happen to those who don't. Think and roll wisely. Another thing, don't roll your bootleg jeans, better yet just burn them. Bootleg had been out of the field for out a while if you didn't notice.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Here's another two good ones:</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;">Well, that's all and stay tune. See you next week. I'll try to get online in the weekends if possible. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><i>Ciao!</i></div>Calvinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12980195289441480904noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4965788540641617811.post-7400190595840201882010-07-21T14:31:00.002+10:002010-07-21T14:32:29.063+10:00Fashion Video Digest and Something Else?These are some interesting videos I came across in youtube which made me laugh. Well, kind of? The first one is by Robert Hoffman. This dude never cease to entertain me. It's a video about what does not make you a model! A special message to those out there who thinks they can be a model but never realize they can't. Be realistic!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><object height="250" width="400"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/osVj09EQ7C4&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/osVj09EQ7C4&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="400" height="250"></embed></object></div><br />
This is another good video from a while ago. So <a href="http://showstudio.com/">showstudio.com</a> made a video of Raquel Zimmermann wearing a Gareth Pugh gown and impersonating Lady Gaga. It made me smile rather than laugh. And again Raquel is the best, one of my favourite models!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><object height="250" width="400"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UD-VEzh9mP8&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UD-VEzh9mP8&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="400" height="250"></embed></object></div><br />
And here's a behind the scenes video of Prada's F/W campaign. As you have seen in my previous post on F/W campaigns, you know this is from Steven Meisel. Another legend to be reckoned with. The jazz mode with HairSpray kind of hair. A light heart video perfect for a fashion digest.<br />
But seriously, aside from the photos I've seen of Meisel in Vogue, I can't find much of him. Even this video does not show a slightest hint of him. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><object height="250" width="400"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FxW6-CPiDCE&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FxW6-CPiDCE&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="400" height="250"></embed></object> </div><br />
Aside from the video, here's something interesting. So I found this Alexander McQueen undies for men which look so cool. I might just get my hands on one of them if it's not 50 euros for one. Damn those are expensive. Then again, it is McQueen! He will forever be my legendary designer!<br />
See? They just look so cool. It sold in <a href="http://www.oki-ni.com/Brands/Alexander-McQueen-Underwear/icat/mcqueen-underwear?cm_mmc=AWIN-_-84618-_-Deeplink-_-Generic&CMP=AFC-AW&attr=84618">Oki-Ni </a>website. <br />

I have some problems with my internet connection at home, thus the hiatus. And I was not starting class till two days ago which I have another problem with connecting with university WiFi. Finally yesterday, I got it all resolved.<br />
<br />
As of now, I have only campus WiFi to work on my blog and go online, so bear with me, people. I would probably get back my home connection in a couple of weeks, two probably. So before that happens, I will be trying my best to find time to post more using campus connection.<br />
<br />
As I am ranting here, I am in the library study corner where they have plug points to charge my mac. A misuse of space, but hey, I'm a journalist/blogger. It's part of my assignment to blog too. Okay, now to my fashion digest which might be old news but nevertheless I thought it's worth sharing.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<b>Fashionable Google</b></div><div style="text-align: left;">Finally a recognition from one of the online powerhouse, Google to all the fashion bloggers out there. Cheers to us then. Fashion bloggers gained high reputations from the industry from the past year or so. Famous bloggers like bryanboy and Tavi got invited to couture and ready to wear shows from brands like Marc Jacobs and Chanel.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Vogue recognizes fashion bloggers in their March Power Issue. Article called "Logged On". And now more and more come to realize the impact of bloggers. True, it might not replace magazine but it definitely have their own space in this industry.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">So Google launched this program called GStyle to get to know more about fashion bloggers. According to them, fashion bloggers understands the social media more than the ones covering other fields. Damn right! So now they want to know more about how fashion bloggers use the internet to better improve their service.<br />

She needs to learn from Sylvia, I guess? That is just whack! Maybe it's not in her genes?</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
The first thing it reminded me was the old rugs that most Malaysian or maybe Asians have at their toilet doors. My house used to have like a million of those.<br />
<br />
This is so not working for me. A piece of toilet rug slapped into a weekend tote. Hmm... Maybe it's just me, because I've seen the worst of those rugs. Maybe other people, most likely the West side would have another view to it. What's your take?<br />
<br />

Everything just got a tad bit too boring for me. Hadn't been keeping up since a few episodes of season 3. But after hearing this news, I might just watch it again.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><b> </b></div><div style="text-align: left;">So it is official (or so I think) that Hamish Bowles, European Editor at Large for American Vogue will be starring in one of Gossip Girls episodes. now that is something new to me. The photo here is allegedly taken during one of the shootings.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
Also the all so fabulous event of the year, Fashion's Night Out will be featured in the series as well. That two reasons is enough for me to watch Gossip Girl again. I wonder how good is Hamish's acting skills?</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">______________________________</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Well, that's all for now. And I know that I have not post up any couture coverage and I promise by tomorrow evening (Aus time) it will be up. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">In the mean time, I will post up some interesting fashion related videos in the next post just to keep you entertained.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

A short one just to get through the 25 minutes of waiting. So this time, I have for you the major shifts in the fashion industries editorial, revealing the front covers of most September Issues and the struggles of fashion brands in their finance.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TDyFDVqkbSI/AAAAAAAABP8/EIWDl7GZBZc/s1600/Editors1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="286" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TDyFDVqkbSI/AAAAAAAABP8/EIWDl7GZBZc/s400/Editors1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<b>Editorial Shifts in Fashion</b><br />
So first off is the editorial shifts that had been going on a lot for the past month or so. Important figures in our beloved magazines had shifted to greener pastures. One of them is Sally Singer who went from Vogue to T Magazine landing as the editor-in-chief. Florence Kane and Patrick O'Connell left Vogue too for a step up to better positions.<br />
Stefano Tonchi from T to head the W magazine. Just to name a few. I have a chart here for you to look at. I know it's probably too confusing to make it out. Go to <b><a href="http://fashionista.com/2010/07/editorial-musical-chairs-a-visual-guide/#more-50767">Fashionista.com</a></b> for the detailed rundown.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">_____________________________</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TDyHIiBmkmI/AAAAAAAABQE/x7S1q9pH9JY/s1600/voguesept.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TDyHIiBmkmI/AAAAAAAABQE/x7S1q9pH9JY/s320/voguesept.jpg" /></a><b>Who's Front in Sept Issues</b></div><div style="text-align: left;">Now I have finally got my confirmation on the cover for Vogue's September. It is gonna be Halle Berry, famous actress that won Oscars for her performance in Monster Ball. Let's not forget her controversial cast as Cat Woman. She is the second black woman who will grace the cover - after Naomi Campbell. Now I don't really agree on having her as the September's cover. It is the January for fashion and most important issue of all.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I said it once and I'll say it again.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">To have a black woman front it is a good recognition for all races in the world and she is a good actress. But I think maybe someone like Iman is better.She did win the Fashion Icon Award for CFDA, and who better to grace the cover than her for a fashion issue. the compiled list of cover girls for most September issues of the fashion world. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Anyhow if I knew why, i would be Anna and head Vogue. But I'm not, there must be a good reason on this. So I just have to accept it then.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">For the other magazines cover girl, go to <b><a href="http://fashionista.com/2010/07/september-issues-revealed-whos-covering-whom/">FASHIONISTA.COM </a></b></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">_____________________________</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TDyIXJ2cFVI/AAAAAAAABQM/DXbz1XD0jS8/s1600/Prada-logo.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TDyIXJ2cFVI/AAAAAAAABQM/DXbz1XD0jS8/s320/Prada-logo.gif" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>Pushing Through The Econs </b></div><div style="text-align: left;">And the last is on two labels, Prada and Armani. Well, as you all know the past year had known been well financially. Now it is announced that Prada is getting a loan of $455M to cover their debts and recover from the financial crisis blow.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">And Armani said that their earnings dropped for 09. That being said, they are flourishing in China like most high end brands. It seems that Chinese have the buying power now. Even models like Chanel Iman flies to China now to grace Vogue China's editorials.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I guess, us Chinese are powerful now, huh? Though I am not from China, I feel good about it. Bite me.</div><div style="text-align: left;">Let's hope that the crisis will be over soon. And what is not better to help than this year's FASHION"S NIGHT OUT event. I think most of you know about it. And good news is although the event was a NY based event, it is gonna be internationally celebrated this year. From NY, Miami to London, Sydney and more. Check the <b><a href="http://fashionsnightout.com/">FASHION'S NIGHT OUT</a></b> website.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Good luck people! Kill economy crisis!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">_____________________________</div><br />
<br />
That's all for now and I have exactly 5 minutes before the interview starts.<br />
Ciao!Calvinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12980195289441480904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4965788540641617811.post-20296766710605881152010-07-13T22:11:00.003+10:002010-07-14T01:24:49.184+10:00The Best Of Fall Campaigns 2010<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Just a short post with a lot of photo shoots and side commentaries. This years Fall?Winter campaigns shows a lot of promise. There's Hermes, Donna Karan, Prada, and more. Featuring in some of these ads are Karen, Natalia, Karlie - just to name a few of the supermodels. A truly fantastic season.<br />
<br />
This season, Steven Meisel raked the most shoots as far as I know. Dior, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Lanvin was all by him. Mert and Marcus did well too with CK Jeans and Dsquared.<br />
<br />
Without babbling for too long, lets get on to it. First off we have:<br />
<i>Note: For some of the shoots, it's smaller, so click on it to have a better view </i><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TDxJn9HfUoI/AAAAAAAABPM/jwv2XzJYRfs/s1600/dsquared-campaign3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TDxJn9HfUoI/AAAAAAAABPM/jwv2XzJYRfs/s320/dsquared-campaign3.jpg" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDvWDknuqByOcrCh4B332MESXyE_0t-C4faLpvRyzv1DCNqsB8Ow_2tfuJS8lGOjGY_P_KuK-1DEl0PRn2OJVTC9TJ0-6r-xV1v-OU1FFsQeIywROW9nITOZZj8UELrECXZJohy6liNKei/s1600/dsquared-fall-winter-2010-11-preview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDvWDknuqByOcrCh4B332MESXyE_0t-C4faLpvRyzv1DCNqsB8Ow_2tfuJS8lGOjGY_P_KuK-1DEl0PRn2OJVTC9TJ0-6r-xV1v-OU1FFsQeIywROW9nITOZZj8UELrECXZJohy6liNKei/s320/dsquared-fall-winter-2010-11-preview.jpg" /></a> </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: right;"> Dsquared never cease to amaze me. With a Spring/Summer that was so hot, they came with a new definition of hotness.</div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

It feels like a 1960s Hairspray moment for me here. The huge hairdo and performance and romance to it hits the perfect mark.<br />

Lanvin's new campaign looked like a improved version of their pervious campaign.<br />
The previous was plainer and simple where as this plays a lot with texture and fabrication.<br />
With the lining of the background, the three looked like fabulous giantess ready to strike.<br />
And of course it is by Meisel.<br />

</div>Yves Saint Laurent reused the simple frame like theme but in black and white for this season.<br />
To me, it do not seem overused or out of date, after all something so classic and simple can never go out of style.<br />

I know I said it was a short post, but it made too long with all the fabulous shoots. it is short in a sense, less words. Just the images taking all the space. Apologies. Enjoy.<br />
<br />
By the way, if you want to see more of these campaigns, go to <a href="http://fashiongonerogue.com/campaign/">FASHION GONE ROGUE</a>. I did not post all the photos of each brand. just one of each which I think was the best!<br />

So a while ago, this crazy ad came on the net from Reebonz.com. A Singapore based company that sells high end branded fashion products at discounted price.<br />
<br />
So what they came up with what a 99% luxury sale for its members. Of course I am extremely excited about it. Can't stop thinkingabout it for quite a while. Imagine this, Marc Jacobs Multi Zipper tote for 8AUD. YSL Safety Pin Tote for 3AUD. Prada Saffiano Sling Bag for 8AUD.<br />
<br />
For fashionistas/nistos, this is an event to die for. So came the day which is today. I eagerly stood by my computer since 4pm (it starts at 6pm). As it nears the time, I clicked refresh on the webite - yup, been refreshing since 5.30pm. It couldn't log in. Nothing is loading.<br />
<br />
Tried for the next 5 minutes and I couldn't get anything, and off to Facebook to check it. A tream of wall post on their fanpage with people saying that it does not work. The website crashed! So I tried and tried for an hour, and finally got into it. No doubt the sale was magnificent.<br />
<br />
I came across a few items to buy but the sale allows 1 item per user. I have the Prada sling, YSL tote, Marc Jacobs zipper tote and Marc Jacobs duffel bag to choose from. The moment I clicked it took another few refreshing to load. When I got into the item's page, takes 5 minutes to add to cart. When I want to check out, it says there's no item even though I added to cart.<br />
<br />
Fine, repeat the process a few times, and finally went to check out. YAY!<br />
<br />
Wait a sec, I have all the items I tried to add but though failed in my list, but I went ahead to pay without caring how many was there. I had three of the YSL and four Prada in my list. CLick pay and nothing happened. <br />
<br />
REFRESH again and occasionally pops out the note saying I have no items. Tried to remove all the items except for one, didn't work. The freaking website does not work! ARGH!<br />
<br />
It was majorly frustrating. Worst than doing my final assignments. God. How can the website be so dumb. If you can't handle this much users, limit it. Find a solution like<br />
<br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;">1. Limit the amount of RSVPs for the event</span></b><br />
<br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;">2. Upgrade your website's server</span></b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWmF69_CmUpKDzpZOzho31QM4SPlYLjag5TtW-vrsBz3cDoe9NMFQiJJK-N9spkBZ2Gp0yJ2R_U0tdQOjaUyp9wtInWBahdDH8pkGLaJUNepT3XwUTWJSE2FnoKVIRcPQEKagqSm8G2ilk/s1600/asdasddas.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="220" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWmF69_CmUpKDzpZOzho31QM4SPlYLjag5TtW-vrsBz3cDoe9NMFQiJJK-N9spkBZ2Gp0yJ2R_U0tdQOjaUyp9wtInWBahdDH8pkGLaJUNepT3XwUTWJSE2FnoKVIRcPQEKagqSm8G2ilk/s400/asdasddas.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Now they closed the website to "FIGURE" out the problem. Apparently not much was sold and they will resume the event again! GOD! These people. Getting our hopes up and drop us into the pits of hell. Feel like crying now. Bwah!!!!<br />
<br />
Anyway, I will still try when it's back on. Seriously, who can turn off such a deal, if you get it that is.<br />
Just a shoutout to relieve my grief and anger.<br />
<br />

Enjoy, babes!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"> _____________________________</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TDmqXl3KxNI/AAAAAAAABNM/hTxJOqKWCL8/s1600/MG_1614_fin_RGB_preview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TDmqXl3KxNI/AAAAAAAABNM/hTxJOqKWCL8/s320/MG_1614_fin_RGB_preview.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>Ken Overshadows Barbie? </b></div><div style="text-align: left;">Now we all know the famous celebrity couple Ken and Barbie, the perfect couple that all kids love. Well that being said, Barbie had always been the limelight between the two. It's a normal celeb thing that happens to all Hollywood couples - Ken was like a backdrop. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">But recently, Ken stole the limelight from Barbie when he got a more prominent role in the film, Toy Story 3. Yup, he got double the dialogues than Barbie and he plays the bad guy turned good.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">That is the best moment for Ken and definitely boost his resume. Later he was shot by Esquire UK magazine. A six page spread in the world renowned mens magazine. He is at the top of his game. let's just hope that Barbie takes it well.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Prada, Gucci and Burberry created exclusive outfits just for Ken for this shoot. Talk about high end doll fashion.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TDmp82_fcLI/AAAAAAAABNE/sRSZ0PINxts/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TDmp82_fcLI/AAAAAAAABNE/sRSZ0PINxts/s320/1.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b><span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>Ken in Burberry Prorsum. </i></span></b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">_____________________________</div><br />
<br />
<b><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TDmkgQfia2I/AAAAAAAABMk/Of3bJoTuvic/s1600/lacoste-porcelain-polo-li-xiaofeng2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HXNXLSS1O6k/TDmkgQfia2I/AAAAAAAABMk/Of3bJoTuvic/s320/lacoste-porcelain-polo-li-xiaofeng2.jpg" width="273" /></a>Armor is the new black! </b><br />
I think it is official now. Armor inspired jackets are the new black for the season. Most notably in menswear as I had shown you in my <a href="http://diarium-ejus.blogspot.com/2010/06/men-must-haves-for-moi.html">previous posts</a>. Armor inspired outfits had been done before but not on my watch. So I find it rather exciting.<br />
<br />
True. It might be done before but it was forgotten for some time and it's making a comeback now.<br />
<br />
And this new exciting piece from Lacoste is just breathtaking. The creator Li XiaoFeng definitely had the edge for making porcelain like polos. So those who has antique vases that was broken to pieces, bring it to Li and you get your self a fab shirt.<br />
<br />
I wonder where can I get something like this or the Burberry Terracotta in a lower end brand. That's life of a student for you. Broke as ever.<br />
<br />

Well Try this one. Louis Vuitton tattoos, nothing better to express your love to the brand than to brand yourself with it. Alright, am joking here. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Thess tatts were for the LV's menswear show recently, done by Scott Campbell who did Marc Jacobs tattoos too. Now, not only did he do the tattoos for the models, he was also asked to design patterns for a series of bags for the mens collection. A chinese Kilin (eastern take on unidorn) inspired tattoo embedded to the bags. They have it in patent leather and also in the Damier Canvas a.k.a LV checker.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

</div>Well, that all for now. Next post would be on Haute Couture! It has begun!!<br />
<br />
Ciao.Calvinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12980195289441480904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4965788540641617811.post-51970824579234845902010-07-06T22:52:00.001+10:002010-07-11T20:52:39.116+10:00A Little Gratitude Would Be Cool?God! I am in like a posting streak now. So up next, Twilight again! Well, Kristen Stewart to be precise. A short one on this. Well, it was the Twilight new movie's premier just the other day - whatever name the movie is. Eclipse, New Moon...<br />
<br />
Well, what happened was when one of the red carpet host asked Kristen what she was wearing, she was like, "Uh oh, who was it by?" Apparently someone told her just before and she forgot again! IT"S ELIA SAAB!!!!!<br />
<br />
Here's a video of the interview.<br />
<i>Note: They deleted the video! Bad rep for Kristen?</i><span style="font-size: x-small;"> (just youtube> kristen red carpet eclipse premier)</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><object height="250" width="400"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nlpFhh-UVms&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nlpFhh-UVms&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="400" height="250"></embed></object></div><br />
There was another one but I can't find it. It was another red carpet host during the premier, I think, who asked the same question. It's okay for you not to be in fashion but since you wore the dress, have some effort to remember the designer's name. <br />
<br />
They did not labor themselves through fitting sessions for you to forget their name. Seriously. you might say that it's free publicity for the designer and most of the time designers approach celebs to wear their outfits or the other way around - depends whether you're A-list or B.<br />
<br />
Still, you should remember their names, it might be free but come on. Show some appreciation?<br />
<br />
To Twihards out there, I am not a Kristen Stewart or Twilight hater, so don't get offended. It's just my two cents here.<br />
<br />
God! (again). Am I being a real criticizer here? Hope you don't mind, I don't mean to be mean.<br />

Finally read the copy of Vogue US (July). Got it a few days ago, curse Australia's air freight. Anyway the best article of July is the "<i>Noble Farewell</i>" by <i>Hamish Bowles</i>.<br />
It is a parting article as a tribute to the late <i>Alexander McQueen</i> and his last collection.<br />
<br />
With a three page spread styled by <i>Grace Coddington</i> and photographed by <i>Annie Leibovitz</i>, it is simply divine!<br />
Always loved Grace's styling and direction. This time it really brings out the essence of the collection and perfectly befitting the title - Noble Farewell. <br />
<br />
Read the article here:> <a href="http://www.vogue.com/feature/2010_July_Alexander_McQueen/"><b>Noble Farewell</b></a><br />
<br />
On another note: Get this divine book of McQueen. Fabulous coffee table reading!<br />

Sexualising is something I think means making something completely normal into something out of its context. Example, the recent news on Victoria Buckley.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieBB8Jbhh40VjmuryQb3nS2Y7UPIwa8HUjv5KJKD_ntDjIla5joGa5jgSTGyGg_tEerauALgBWLcS7Z_aU1B6BdVJNxUQ0cJrIl8xzvvELqyo_Uhyd7g-9tGrlJDMlDMG3y8ZYA-TQJfHR/s1600/Victoria+Buckley+2+HERO+v2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieBB8Jbhh40VjmuryQb3nS2Y7UPIwa8HUjv5KJKD_ntDjIla5joGa5jgSTGyGg_tEerauALgBWLcS7Z_aU1B6BdVJNxUQ0cJrIl8xzvvELqyo_Uhyd7g-9tGrlJDMlDMG3y8ZYA-TQJfHR/s320/Victoria+Buckley+2+HERO+v2.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Basically this Sydney jeweler came up with some images in Facebook showing a nude doll (picture above) with her designs and Facebook banned those pictures from their site, saying that it is "<b>SEXUAL</b>". What the heck? It's just a doll, how can it be sexual? If you don't think of it and tell people you think it's sexual, the question wouldn't even appear.<br />
<br />
The doll was meant to be an inspiration to the designer and just a decoration. What's so sexual about that?<br />
<br />
I recently studied this topic in my university course and there are more things in this twisted world being sexualised. A mother breastfeeding a child was deemed sexual and explicit by some "<b>GENIUS</b>". What's wrong with breastfeeding, it is something natural and happens to most people in the world. Why do people say it's offensive? Don't your mom breastfeed you?<br />
<br />
I know I sound mean but that's the fact. The society now are making everything seem sexual. People who think things like dolls and breastfeeding as sexually offensive are the sick ones. They are the ones with the twisted minds thinking of the weird.<br />
<br />
What's your opinion? Check this original news piece here.<br />
