Who's that Model??

I was wondering who the guy character Nicky (brother of Anthony, The Gay Wedding Planner) was in the sequel. Turns out I found him familiar because he is one of the models in the DnG Anthology Fragrance Series, named Noah Mills. He is the model in the bottom right corner. Just a thought.

Speaking of which, the D&G Anthology collection. It is surely one of my top list of fragrances to buy after I get my hands on Marc Jacobs BANG. The collection has 5 different fragrances inspired by the tarot cards which I love as well. Another reason to get it.

I know this is a bit random but it kinda link to my previous post on SATC 2, so I decided to post up. Sue me. Anyway this collection has one of the most fantastic ads for fragrances that I have seen so far, also other than Marc Jacobs BANG which I love. Basically I post this to tell you who was the guy in SATC which then lead to this total random blabbering and I want to share with you, the awesome ads which is already out for quite sometime - whatever. Enjoy =)

Clockwise starting from top left corner:
Tyson Ballou, Fernando Fernandes, Eva Herzigova, Noah Mills, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer

The collection has 5 fragrances which is:
Le Bateleur 1 (The Magician, Tyson Ballou),
L’Imperatrice 3 (The Empress, Naomi Campbell) ,
L’Amoureux 6 (The Lover, Noah Mills),
La Roue de la Fortune 10 (The Wheel of Fortune, Eva Herzigova and Fernando Fernandes)
La Lune 18 (The Moon, Claudia Schiffer).

Personally my choice would be La Roue de la Fortune, 10. It suits me most. So people, add this to your "Calvin's Birthday Gift" list. Hahaha. Joking... or am I?

Sex and the Review: Carrie On!

Editor's note: I actually wrote another copy
but stupid blogger deleted it and saved an
empty post as my saved draft. I loved the
deleted one more but oh well... Here goes:

Sex and the City. A true magnificent series. The movie sequel, Sex and The City 2: Carrie On  which was recently released was a true gem. Honestly I was a bit turned off by the reviews made, which was quite misogynistic. If my use of term is correct, it means sexist. The reviews were probably with a hatred to women. I have to say the reviews was nothing that I experienced. It was a blast of a movie. Before I continue on, I have to warn those who have yet to watch it that my thoughts on it contains SPOILERS! Read at your own risk.

The first thing which prove not to be true is the issue of racism. I read a review which origins is to be remained anonymous said that it was racist because they portray Middle Eastern as servants and employees only in Abu Dhabi. What do you expect? They travel to the Middle East, of course majority of people working there would be Middle Eastern. You can't really expect to see Caucasians working there, can you? So saying that the movie is racist is complete cock and bull!

One of the things I love about the sequel is you can see how far has Carrie gone through. How much she changed. I still remember that I used to think Carrie was annoying and whiny when it comes to love. She matured a lot from that. Shown when she kissed Aidan and how she handles it. How she stop avoiding and refrain from making excuses to telling the truth and face the consequences.

You can see how they others change as well. I, especially love the montage in the beginning where they show how they look it in the first season to now. Carrie was as chic as ever. Charlotte, always the Chanel girl look. Simple, classy and nice. Miranda changed from men suits to elegant dresses and stylish as ever. And of course, Samantha, my favourite character of the series. She changed from a biker chick working for a bar to a successful PR guru with a style to match. Though I am not a fan of the red dress with metal spikes on the shoulders - looked like Rihanna in a MV.

They all aged well since the first season but still as beautiful and fabulous as ever, if not the same. The men aged more than the ladies. Aidan, Big, Steve. They looked matured and wise - old.

All in all, it was a perfect ending for the 12 year series (including the sequel). I love the sequel more than its predecessor. The first was more emotional and sappy where the sequel is more light hearted and fun. It captures the essence of the movie well. Samantha with her ever so witty sex life, Charlotte being drunk, Carrie and her clever pun with words and the serious but fun Miranda, always the rational one - well most of the times. The sequel basically reworked scenes from the series and shows how far they have gone. It was fun and exciting.

I laughed through the whole movie and actually clapped when Samantha went berserk with the condoms and explicit gestures during the gang up by Middle Eastern men. And the end part was very touching as well. Goose bumps all over.

Oh, and Anthony, Charlotte's gay wedding planner best friend got married to Stanford, Carrie's gay best friend. That was a shocker! And the wedding was cool, like "Snow Queen exploded all over the place!"

Another fun experience was when the Australian socceroos came to screen. We actually cheered in the theater. I don't know why I did it but it was fun! though I'm not sure whether it's the real team or not.

I really had a blast during the movie. It was worth watching and exceeded my manipulated expectations. I would definitely still remember the show after a decade or two. The memories it gave to me will definitely be "CARRIE"d ON.

Last but not least, my favorite two lines in the movie:
Ever thine. Ever mine. Ever ours - Beethoven
Me and You. Just us two - Carrie Bradshaw

PS: Check the book out. A catalogue of all the outfits worn in the show by the fabulous four. From Dior to Halston.

Fashion Digest: Naomi turns 40, Influential Bloggers, Iman Obscenity, Sex and The City 2

Assignments had been piling up this past week but I promised myself to blog more often, so I'm gonna do it even with work piling. Technically this is part of my work too. So it's time for another fashion digest from yours truly.

Naomi's 40!
Today we have Naomi Campbell, Iman, Power Bloggers and Sex and the City news. Just this Monday, Naomi Campbell celebrated her 40th birthday in Hotel du Cap Eden Roc, UK. Stars around the world gathered, from celebs, designers, models and socialites. They all came to honor this supermodel of the decade. Though she might be a tad bit cranky and has anger problems, she is still wonderful in her career. So Happy Birthday, Naomi! Am sure you have a good one. Let's hope being older, makes you wiser - or tamer.

Bloggers' Influential
Bloggers finally gets recognition from the media as professionals. Most had been in denial that bloggers are influential for the past few years but results are showing. I'm not saying that magazine or any other print is irrelevant now but bloggers are to be recognized by the society. I have to say, print is not dying yet, and with online journalism flourishing, print might even get better. I had a big argument on this in my assignment. Check this: Is Online the new "IT" Magazine?
Back to the topic, influential bloggers includes we have Tavi, Style Rookie; Susanna Lau, Style Bubble UK;  and Bryan Boy. All of them are fabulous and I think The Sartorialist should be in the list though the line of it being a blog or a website blurs out. Check the list here: Most Influential Bloggers. They have the links to the blogs I mentioned - am too lazy to put the links here.

Iman Honored or Disguested?
Big news from CFDA Awards, Iman will be receiving the Fashion Icon Award in coming June 7. But that's really the point. What happen was Iman was honored by Barneys for being awarded. So she was featured at Barneys'window display with photos throughout her career. now, the controversy started when one of the photos shows a male model full frontal and that's not the best part. It's on eye level when children passes by. Talk about sex education. Although I love Iman, that was a bit bad for public's eye. Not her fault, mainly of Barneys. So I still congratulate Iman for getting the award. She is without a doubt one of the best fashion icon I know.

Sex and the City 2: Carrie On
So Sex and the City 2 just premiered in the US on 26th May, something which I dread now because Australia is only showing on June 2.I seriously am desperate to watch it. To see Carrie being an idiot with too much of feelings to share and wants Aidan again. So her... On the premier everyone was gorgeous. Sarah Jessica in Valentino, Kristin Davis in vintage Jean Desse, Kim Cattral in Naeem Khan and Cynthia Nixon in Carolina Herrera. All of them were fabulous. They wore things similar to what they would have worn in the movie. I guess, being in the movie for so long rubs on you. Well, except for Cynthia which looks completely different than Miranda in the movie. So used to her with short hair. Speaking of Sarah Jessica, she was just enlisted as the presenter for a speical tribute award to Alexander McQueen. Not a suprise wince they were good friends. Remember, the 2003 Costume Institute Gala, where she wore matching tartan dress with McQueen.
