Good day gone bad!

You never know what is gonna befall on you. I conclude that there is no such thing as a good day! Seriously!

Maybe I'm being cynical here but seriously. God! I never cursed so much in facebook before! Probably gonna hang myself now. Have no mood whatsoever to read the news for in-class quiz later, so I'm here ranting my shit out!

Let me tell you about my day. Well, half a day. It's only 12 pm now. Last night slept around 1 am and woke up at 7 am without any alarm buzzing its lungs out to wake me. Fantastic! Then have a nice weather with sun and chill. My favorite.

And you know, I thought, "Hey, might be a good day today. Came to uni early and will have time to rush in some news and blog a bit on the couture piece I have yet to do."

Went to uni and have a great cup of coffee. And then shit starts to happen, maybe it's the coffee or the banana I ate last night. Stomach started rumbling and you know, you get what I mean. Not good. Got an email while in toilet, and somehow left my phone somewhere without knowing in the process from toilet to library.

When I got to the library, the internet fucking suck. Can't load shit without waiting for 10 million minutes and Mozilla kept going to "Not Responding" mode. And then when I reach for my phone, it's gone! F**K!!!!!!!!


Tried calling it but no one picked up. So i deducted and think I dropped it somewhere near toilet or on the way to the library. So yeah, there is no such thing as a good day. At least not for me today.

I never pray to god but please let me have my phone back, god!!! Or at least let me have a nicer day to follow. Feel like hanging myself. Having a migraine now but surprisingly I can still write.

Anyhow, just ranting out, so that I won't jump of the building.

Expandables? Spoiler Alert!

Okay, I think everyone knows the hype of THE EXPENDABLES. No? Then you're totally missing out. It's the most action packed movie to date for this year and maybe the last. Then again, I didn't really watch anything of action genre - does Avatar count?

Well, anyway I went for the movie because my mates, Morg and Adrian were crazy over it. ONe reason. Old guys playting mercenaries. Well, I'm being harsh. To put it in a nice way, it is all the all stars group of veteran for action packed movies. We have Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crew and Randy Couture as the main characters, The Expendables team.

Honestly I know only half of the men. Sylvester is who he is, duh? Do I need to say more? Jason Statham is from some movie I've seen before - no idea which. Jet Li - I'm Chinese, of course I know him. And Terry Crew, the dude from White Chicks that loves to listen to A Thousand Miles.

So yeah, and then we have the not so important characters that only appears for less than a few minutes. We have Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger (I can't never spell the last name, copy and paste!). Arnold was on screen for what? 60 seconds? And the director made a joke with him. Watch it and you'll know.

So all in all, it's a good movie if you like action. It's what I call a muscle movie. All action and no story. Honestly with all that action and fighting, no storyline is needed.

What I am crazy about is Jason Statham. No. I am not crazy about him. It's the character. I now label him as the dude with mad skills with throwing blades and slicing people off in incredible speed and accuracy. His character, Lee Christmas, former SAS (Special Air Service for the British) was off the hook! His fighting scenes were the best. Well, there were others.
Like:
Blade stabbed in throat and twisted around until blood were squirting out like a fountain.
Crazy gun that blasts a man into half. (upper body torn from the lower due to force)
Clean slicing off the hand.
Crazy machine gun that blows the head off.

Yup, all crazy shit but it was gooood. So anyway talk later.

Socceroos Assemble!

This is like a out of date post for me. As you all know and might be religiously following, FIFA is back. Old news, I know. I, myself am not much of a soccer fan but it is still exciting, though I only watch the final games - Top 8 maybe? But I have been keeping in touch with t since my housemates are crazy about it.

I don't really have a team I support. I chose those countries which I 'd like to visit which is US (Mainly New York), England, Italy and France. All of them are strong teams, I think. Not bad for a noob's choice. So the big news in Oz now is that Oz lost 4-0 to Germany. That's right, it's been a sad week for Aussie fans. But, oh well, it's still early to tell whether there's no more hope.

Since I'm in Australia, of course I support the socceroos too. Oh, socceroos is the aussie term for soccer because we have AFL, NRL and all. And here's to the main thing, FIFA theme songs. Amazing songs by K'naan feat. David Bisbal and Shakira. Something to cheer Aussie fans up and for others to enjoy. I can't get it out of my head.

So finally I am posting something other than fashion into my humble abode. But I seriously have to share this with you. So the other day, me and my housemates, Adrian and Gaya went for a stroll in the city and we decided to go to this cafe that Adrian was raving about. Actually I went there before once but I didn't have a camera with me and I forgot to post it. Anyway the place is a small cozy cafe at Little Bourke St, between Elizabeth and Queen St. (359 Little Bourke Street) - Brother Baba Budan.

So this place is very unique. You see, they make their own blend of coffees and it's different everyday. So you might get to taste different coffees, each time you go there. The cafe is quite small. There's one huge table that can seat 8 customers and a counter table that seats 4 to 6 customers. And that's why it's always packed with people having takeaways. Oh and they have homemade pastries!

The best thing about that place is VINTAGE! Seriously, their wallpapers are just crumbled and worn out papers of words and pictures. It's as if it's from a textbook. And the main thing,  they have chairs hanging on the ceiling. Yeah, you heard me! CHAIRS! It's makes it looked weird but in a good way. A McQueen way?


So anyway go try it out if you're in Melbourne. Seriously worth the trip. It's really late now and I have yet to sleep. A coffee sounds great for me. Mmmm...

A New Haunting Experience

Okay, tonight I experienced something that was in doubt for me for as long as I can remember. Supernatural and spirit talks are all but a myth to me. Sure, stories were being told by many of my peers of their supernatural encounter and I somehow found it fascinating. Well, I'm always a sucker for mythical, fantasy and supernatural things. So tonight my doubts became truth as I witness something out of the ordinary. Something that was so hard to believe but yet inside my head, I believed it.

It was a random day hanging out and about when my friend, K (he prefers to remain anonymous) got a call from his friend which happened to be one of my acquaintances too. His friend, A told him to get over to the hospital as his girlfriend, Y was admitted to the emergency.

You see, K was always known by his peeps as someone in touch and knowledgeable of the supernatural. He knows and sees things, mortals like us can't. At first we thought it was just sudden panic. Never did came across as one of 'those' incidents.

Birds of a feather, all FLOCK together?

Okay, I know, I know, I haven't blogged about Paris yet although it is long past the schedule. I promise I would do it before Sunday ends. It's a long list of shows in Paris that needs filtering and selecting the best ones to show you people out  there.

Now before Paris comes, I have something quite interesting to share with you guys. For those in Melbourne, you should know that the past week was the annual Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF). Although I have to say that LMFF is not that much of a interest to me (the runway shows), the other side activities held were quite interesting. One of them being the FLOCK Exhibition.

As my title shows, it's a show themed on the word "FLOCK". Depends on how one defines flock, a piece or collection is made based on that aesthetic. Now this exhibition is the 10th annual exhibition organized by the RMIT Union Arts for the fashion and textile program in RMIT University in conjunction with the LMFF. It is an event that allows students of 2nd and final year to showcase their ideas and designs. The exhibition is a free entry for all to enjoy.

Okay, okay.. I know this post is long after the actual event and there's not been any post from me for a while. I have to say that I am busy with assignments and sh*t. LOL. Hate to admit that but yeah - was busy. Or maybe it's just an excuse of mine. No, seriously! I had have assignments pilig up to my nostrils for the past two weeks or so and had not been able to post anything at all.

So anyway, the show was not bad for students work. Some of these magnificent students are Jessica Jones, Jacqueline Wong, Levin Sun, Phoebe Morgan - just to name a few of them. So KUDOs for the students. Enjoy the photos and less trash talk from me.

MSFW Designer Series 4

As I had told you before, I went for one of the designer's show for Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW) two weeks back. It's been a while since the show but I did not find the time to post it up. So here it is.

MSFW has 4 major designer shows that was shown in the evening from day 2 to day 5. I went for the last show, MSFW Designer Series 4 with my friend Edna and she brought another friend, Jason. I have to say that the show wasn't that impressive. I would say that it is a bit underwhelming compared to other shows that I had seen before in Malaysia. Maybe because it was just my luck to get the show with the least attractive designers. I should have gone for the Nicola Finetti or Bettina Liano show - at least they looked more interesting when I saw the photos of it.

As underwhelming as it was there were a few good designers that came out with "not bad" outfits. You see, in the show they had a list of different designers showing their collection. They had Alpha60, Ant!podium, Gary Bigeni, FAT, Obis and a few more. I have to say designers like Ant!podium, Obis and Gary Bigeni was the ones I found more interesting but still not what I had expected. I thought it lacks innovation and it's more commercial. Like something you can easily get from a thrift shop. Not really fit to be named as "Designer Series". Compared to collections from other countries that have Fashion Week. Melbourne was pretty bad. Then again maybe I went to the wrong show. Maybe the Designer Series 1, 2 and 3 was good. Who knows?

And they're management of the event was not good at all. STYLO KL was a lot better. One thing is the things they gave for goodie bags was catered to women only. Not for men. Didn't they know that men is a big part of fashion? Who in the world would give tampons and pads as goodies. Though I did not get the bag because the smartass management did not have enough for people that didn't have seats although they got tickets. So some of us were standing behind the seats. Me included.

Lastly I still think the show was not all bad. Some designers are fabulous but some really are bananas. Hopefully next time would be better. I know some people I met there said Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival for Fall 2010 would be much better. Fingers crossed.

An Intimate Week with Ryan Whelan

Ryan Whelan is one of the contestants of Project Runway Australia, Season 2. He is known for his obsession towards clothing from the 1920s and his specialization on men's tailoring. Always said that he's an old man trapped in a young body. I personally liked most of his designs during Project Runway but somehow he was out by the 4th episode.

So as you know, I mentioned about Melbourne Spring Fashion Week in the previous post and Ryan Whelan graced his presence as an Melbourne based designer by having a mini exhibition at Melbourne Central showing his works. Although I thought I would get a chance to meet him in person as what the website stated but guess I was out of luck. So much for hoping to meet someone famous.

So me and my buddy, Deanna went to the exhibition during our break because we were too bored and had nothing else to do. Though I would go there anyway. What surprised me was Ryan has better works on display in the exhibition compared to his works in Project Runway. Then again, he probably had no limits in time to complete each design. Sometimes time limit and pressure do not do justice to people who can't take stress.

His work on the "Fire Dress" is amazing. How in the world can a dress be made without threads or needles?
