Men Must Haves for Moi

I wanted to post this in the previous post but figured it was too long. So I make a new post. problems solved.
These are my favs of the season and must haves if I were to have the money. Enjoy and tell me what you think. There's clothes and accesories!

Terracotta/Chain mail armor Jackets. 

Rough and stylish from Burberry and Dolce & Gabbana.

Shirts are the way to go. Make sure it's breezy and light though.

Stripes and plain black? Dolce and Gabbana has the perfect ones.

Trench and jackets are cool too.

Not summer but good for a cool spring breeze perhaps?
McQueen's might be too flamboyant? Very A.L.T?

Take Burberry then.

Hoodies on a shirt and parka vest is mighty fine too.

For bags, Lv's monogram city tote works mighty fine. Is monogram really back?

Nothing goes wrong with the right duffel bag. Bottega is the way to go!

What's summer without your perfect sandals?

Bottega Veneta has something with comfort and style.

Well, all in all I loved Bottega Veneta the most. I would get most of the stuff they have in the show. Second thoughts on the vest though I love it. Don't have the biceps for it. The Terracotta jackets would be a love for me. Bags from Burberry does a pretty god job too but I can't seem to find the bag shot. Am sure you've seen it in my previous post on Burberry.

Oh and this is my fav of the season!! McQueen side zip sweater? Forgot to post it up here till I talked to my friend. LOL

In conclusion of this, I have to say, "If only I have the money for it". I wish. Seriously! Hopefully in the future I can.

Burberry Prorsum S/S 2011 Menswear

Burberry Prorsum S/S 2011 Show

The Spring Summer 2011 Menswear shows just started off on Saturday and I decided that I should cover menswear as well. I only got into Burberry Prorsum for now because there had been things distracting me for a while, recently. I will get to the other menswear soon - promise!
 

So Burberry, how should I put this? Well, it's not a bad collection but not everything appeals to me. This season they decide to go into a mix of military and biker rock chic plus some camels and suedes. Did I mention, studs! Studded shoes, belts, jackets etc.

Things I wouldn't wear.

PS:3rd look, it's the fishnet sweater.

Well, I'm not much of a fan for the studded biker jackets and fishnet/deep V neck knitted sweater things. And also, the leather pants and suede trenches. Too out there for me or some are just plain 'Awkward'. I mean I don't have the looks for it - seriously.

But I do love their navy blue trenches and jackets. The khaki trench was not too bad.

Things that I love!

Speaking of which, there is something in the studded wears that I do find interesting. It's not much of the typical spiky studs but it's more of a chain mail kind. You know? Like the armors of Terracotta soldiers. Those I really take into liking, the more I look at it. Not too out there but still makes a statement for moi. And the simple biker without too much studs was good (Look 7).

And last but not least the bags! Oh my god! I just went to the bags paradise, died and got back! - so Carrie. But seriously, it was good! I can't find photos of the bag but you can see them in the show. These are the ones. (Ignore the models, and look at the bag, though the outfits are not bad too).

I left it bigger than the photos before it to show more of the bag. I do not have photoshop at the moment because, as some might already know, I formatted my Mac for maintenance reason and have yet to install Photoshop and Microsoft Office in. Bear with me. Who Grabbed It at CFDA?

Finally, fashion equivalent of Oscars, the CFDA Awards was done and over with. I have mixed feelings about this. Happy that the winners were announced and my favs got it. Sad that it's over and another year to wait. Happy again because it was such a fabulous event (I want the red carpets asap!). Sad because I'm not a part of this night.

Whilst writing this, the after party in New York had probably begun. As they sip cocktails and talk about the night, I am here in my room, eating Milo yogurt and posting on my blog. Fun. Well, beggars can't be choosers. At least now I feel that I'm a small part of the event.
Well, on the winners! I have to say, if you read my previous post about predictions, then you know how true was the link I posted up. Almost everything hits its mark for the Awards. Fantastic.

Marc Jacobs won Womenswear Designer of The Year, and Alexander Wang bagged the Swarovski Accessories Designer of The Year. Love this result! Probably for Wang, it's like a consolation prize for not winning the Womenswear Award but an award is still an award, right?

Though some of my other favs did not win, but I think they have a good shot next year. Altuzarra, you're still fresh! There's plenty of chance. 

Speaking of awards, the L'Oreal Popular Vote Awards, I think this was the one that we were allowed to vote on the website. Ralph Lauren won and I'm quite sadden by it. I thought Marc Jacobs would have a shot. Then again, Ralph Lauren is like a household brand in US, figures.

Well, all well ends well. Let's hope for another year of fabulous designs from them.

Fashion Digest: Sarah burton for McQueen, Books for Fashionistas, Burberry Resort

Another digest is here for everyone to savor. Unfortunately this post, I have little news to share since it's a slow news for the past few days. So we have the new creative director for McQueen, books recommended for fashion lovers or whoever wants a career in fashion and at last another resort collection, Burberry Prorsum.

Sarah Burton to succeed the McQueen Legacy

After the lost of Alexander a while ago, the Gucci Group announced the new successor for the House of McQueen, Sarah Burton. She's practically the right hand lady for McQueen since she graduated from Central Saint Martins and she had been with the house for 16 over years.

Many might doubted her abilities, whether she can do what McQueen do. I think not. McQueen was a legend and master of the unusual, no one could do what he did. She would never do what McQueen did because that would be just copying. It might be that she succeeds the house and follow his vision. I still believe she will be able to create something anew and fresh for the brand.

So I can't wait to see what she has to offer. Without a doubt, she would be great. After all she was the one who completed the last collection of McQueen for F/W 2010.

Books for the fashion aspired

Fashionista.com has just recommended books for Fashionistas and those who wants to work in fashion. As said in the website, the books builds a foundation of knowledge for fashion. From the past, present and future, the books talk about it all and in different angles. (Note: Those in italic is my words, others is just what fashionista.com wrote for description.)

A successful designer friend of mine recommended this book. While there’s no denying that starting your own label is incredibly, incredibly tough, it can happen. And it can go on to become successful. With a forward by entrepreneur Diane von Furstenberg, Gehlhar aims to give aspiring designers a bit of guidance.

For Burberry Prorsum, Christopher Bailey emphasized the theme "A collection with a life before it was created". It's quite literal. He had 1930s British colonies inspired uniforms, urban steam and Hollywood sizzle to the collection - just to name a few. The colonies inspired outfits were all found from archives in the company. It was fantastically breathtaking. The leopard prints for Hollywood, the knits for urban. That's just my thought. Have a look here:

Jet set to London!

Okay, it's been too long since my last one on New York which was last week, so I figured I'll do London and Milan tonight. Blogging has been quiet a challenge to me with assignments, movies, books, magazines, the hanging outs and of course procrastination. I have to somehow stay away from those if I were to be a journalist. First lesson is consistency. Another is trustworthy. So I hereby declare that I would try and post at least one or two post a week. So fingers crossed for me?

Back to the point, from New York, we obviously jets over to London for some British fashion. Though this season had been a bleak one for London - that's my opinion. Nothing really caught my attention that much, even if they do, it's just for a short span. As I said in my London S/S 09 post, I am still learning my roots into British fashion grounds. So forgive me if the coverage is limited.

As my London posts goes, it is almost tradition to have Burberry to start off - Burberry Prorsum to be exact. This season, of course it's about the coats. Bailey is plating with proportions, from oversized coats, cropped and fitted coats to giant fur collar ones. As you see the outfits, you might notice the Aviator influence in the coats especially the ones with the giant wool-like collar ones. Very Amelia Earhart to me, at least that's what I think it is based on Night at the Musuem II.

There was not one dull moment in the show. As the show went on, it was live-streamed to viewers and online pre-order can be done in its site. That's something interesting and would cause choice disorder for those who would go and buy.

There was too many to choose from. Buying one and not the other would almost feel like a sin. Even for me, if I can afford the coats - I WOULD! No. Not the womens' wear but the menswear. Yes. They do have menswear for Prorsum collections. Though not much, they are to die for.
