10 Years of London Eye

There is not much to say about in this post. Just a quick news bite. So in commemoration of London Eye's 10 year anniversary, several artist/models/celebs did some artworks to be sold onsite at London Eye. 5 quid for one and it is love.

All sales proceed to Guy's and St Thomas' Charity to support the Evelina Children's Hospital. What better way to support a cause than famous artists putting pen to paper in illustrations of what they think of London Eye.

Personally from the ones I saw, I love Henry Holland and Kate Moss's art best. There's 10 of them but I saw only 4. So the question is who is in London now? I need to get my hands on these babies. Anyone??

I do have a friend in London town but have yet to reply. So I'll wait for the moment. But if there's anyone reading this in London, anyway you can spare sometime and get it for me?

Louis Vuitton's New Flagship in London

So last week, Louis Vuitton opened its new flagship store in London's trendy Bond Street. Calling it a store might just be an understatement of the year for LV. The "store" was more like a mansion, and it kicked the Paris store's sweet little ass. I thought the store in Avenue des Champs-Élysées,  Paris was amazing when I went there two years ago but this London sanctuary is far more extravagant.

They had an exclusive exhibition of Marc Jacobs's twelve years worth of work in LV. Did anyone manage to go and got some photos? Let me know, pretty please?

The store is the work of none other than Peta Marino, the mastermind of the Champs-Élysées store. Kudos for him. Both were build with impeccable detail. A true work of art.

This London maison houses three levels with a space of 1500 square feet. The ground floor as always is dedicated for the accessories, from bags, clutches to keychains and connected to a lower ground floor as the men's club area for customers to rest and relax especially when the female counterpart is off in a spree. Also, in the ground floor, there is artworks of Takashi Murakami and Richard Prince, designed specifically for this store.

 On to the first floor, it's all dedicated for womenswear and shoes with luxurious changing rooms for customers to change with elegance. Also it houses a unique library which will showcase the best of British contemporary Art Books and bespoke commissions by artists including Anish Kapoor, Chris Ofili and Gary Hume.

And finally, the last floor. A private client suite that could only be accessed by invitation. So if you're in the area, just check it out. Let me know if you can snap some shots =)

On the other hand, here a fun clip to watch of Marc Jacobs and Katie Grand as they raid the Louis Vuitton archives. The mannequins were fabulous! I wonder if one day I could keep one?

PS: Check this book out. I got a glimpse in the library before but it's gone now and it's a fun read. I wonder who took it?

Jet set to London!

Okay, it's been too long since my last one on New York which was last week, so I figured I'll do London and Milan tonight. Blogging has been quiet a challenge to me with assignments, movies, books, magazines, the hanging outs and of course procrastination. I have to somehow stay away from those if I were to be a journalist. First lesson is consistency. Another is trustworthy. So I hereby declare that I would try and post at least one or two post a week. So fingers crossed for me?

Back to the point, from New York, we obviously jets over to London for some British fashion. Though this season had been a bleak one for London - that's my opinion. Nothing really caught my attention that much, even if they do, it's just for a short span. As I said in my London S/S 09 post, I am still learning my roots into British fashion grounds. So forgive me if the coverage is limited.

As my London posts goes, it is almost tradition to have Burberry to start off - Burberry Prorsum to be exact. This season, of course it's about the coats. Bailey is plating with proportions, from oversized coats, cropped and fitted coats to giant fur collar ones. As you see the outfits, you might notice the Aviator influence in the coats especially the ones with the giant wool-like collar ones. Very Amelia Earhart to me, at least that's what I think it is based on Night at the Musuem II.

There was not one dull moment in the show. As the show went on, it was live-streamed to viewers and online pre-order can be done in its site. That's something interesting and would cause choice disorder for those who would go and buy.

There was too many to choose from. Buying one and not the other would almost feel like a sin. Even for me, if I can afford the coats - I WOULD! No. Not the womens' wear but the menswear. Yes. They do have menswear for Prorsum collections. Though not much, they are to die for.

From NY to London

London. A place where fashion is as major as the distant relatives - NY, Milan and Paris. Although I have to say I am not very much in touch with this area of 'fabulousness' as the others. I must apologize for the lack of knowledge and I swear I will keep in touch more. One of the most notable label is of course Burberry Prorsum by Christopher Bailey. This year Bailey decides to move back from Milan to its birth place, London. Endorsed by the very famous Emma Watson made me love this label more than ever.

Also thanks to Burberry, Londoners got to watch the show live in the flagship store in London. This is what I call private show made public. What a nice thought from Burberry.
